Knew Craig since grade two @ Woodroffe Public School. Growing up, he was our Fonz, ie: the coolest dude in town. Years later, it was not below him to say Hi and reminisce; which I always thought showed him as such a genuine guy. So, very sad news. Ottawa will not be the same.

My deepest sympathy to all family members of our dearly departed Craig. He was a champion of a man and certainly one of a kind. I have wonderful memories of Craig in the Bahamas having spent six weeks there with him and other mutual friends on Harbour Island. So adventurous was he. He will be deeply missed.

My circle of friends just got a lot smaller with Craig's passing. My dad was his football coach, I guess Craig met me first, I was a year old in 1959.He certainly inspired and educated me in so many ways. He had a Sportster in 1970, so I built a bicycle with a war time Harley front end, great for curbs, tired out after a block. My teens it was a lesson in boxing in the Banana Boat, he said oops, missed, no worries don't get stitches, make you look tough! Driving home 4 A.M. in 1988, my son just born heading home from a long labor. Craig's at Woodroffe/Carling we go to my place for a celebratory beer and cigar, he taught me how to stick peanut butter/onion sandwiches to the ceiling. My 1995 street party on Ancaster he shows up with 2 horses for the kid's. He taught my youngest daughter horses, not just riding them. All times of the day and night I would hear the Harley rev in my laneway, "come on for a tour!", I'll miss that and him always and forever, we will meet again old friend!....Mikey

My condolences to all of Craig's family. How I met Craig is fun. In the early 80's I was at Banana Boat talking with Kenny Birchall and this guy comes breezing by, says hello to Ken and then asks me if I know Ken. I say Ken is my cousin, guy jokingly says that he feels sorry for me. Kenny says to the guy that he feels sorry for me too because I'm related to the guy. This comment stops the guy in his tracks and he says what do you mean? Kenny explains that my Grandmother is his Aunt Hazel (Clost/nee Keeleyside). Craig sat down and we talked about our family's history for another 2 hours. Craig was proud of and loved his family. I always enjoyed our encounters after that evening. It is just a bit surreal for me that my older cousins Craig and Kenny stop circling the sun in the same week.

Sincerely,

Jack Thomas

My sincere condolences to Craig's family. A life to celebrate too soon. A childhood friend of mine and my 3 Brothers, Wayne, Garry & Glen. Craig was like my 4th Brother. We had many fond memorable swimming days in the Ottawa River. One in particular was the day that Craig saved my youngest Brother Glen's life, when he noticed him face down in shallow water and quickly pulled him out. We will never forget him R I P and be united with your loved ones in heaven and my Brother Wayne Linda Humphreys

Condolences to the Clost family. Growing up on Woodroffe Ave, I have great memories of Craig and his parents Vinnie & Helen. As a young lad Craig took me for rides on his Harley & Corvette. I always knew when Craig was coming up Woodroffe Hill by the sound of his Harley. We enjoyed many chats at Carlingwood Mall.
Rest in peace Craig, a life well lived.

My deepest condolences to all members of the Clost family on the loss of Craig. I have known Craig since our childhood days and he was undoubtedly a larger-than-life figure in the Woodroffe/Carlingwood scene "back in the Day". While until lately I had not seen Craig for a number of years, was glad to reconnect with him at the recent Carlingwood Boy's and Girl's reunions in 2014 and 2016. RIP
