Craig Fenderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 26, 2023.
Craig Andrew Fenderson, 57, passed away unexpectedly from heart complications on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at his home in Royse City, Texas. He was born on October 7, 1966 in Calais, Maine to Wayne T. Claridge and Marilyn D. (Sharpe) Kern.

Craig was a self-motivated, determined and highly ambitious entrepreneur owning and operating several businesses in the Dallas, TX area, and recently became a licensed Life Insurance Agent for the State of Texas. He graduated from Bangor High School and served in both the United States Army and Marine Corp. Craig studied Computer Science at State College of Florida (formerly MCC) in Bradenton, FL receiving numerous certifications. He was a devout and faithful Christian.

Craig was quite the comedian and enjoyed life to the fullest, despite having severe heart and kidney complications. He was a true warrior and his zest for life was contagious. He remained hopeful and strong until the very end, and did not let his health issues hold him back from living his best life. He was an incredible salesman who did not let any challenge get in his way. He loved his family and friends dearly, had a passion for restoring cars and trucks, loved snowmobiling, dancing and singing privately, and served his country with honor and pride. Once a Marine, Always a Marine. "Semper Fidelis!"

Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents Ervin and Edna Sharpe, Willard and Erdine Claridge, and Frank and Rudy Fenderson, and is survived by his beloved wife Jonalyn, daughter Dominique, and son Dustin of Royse City, TX; mother Marilyn (Bob) Kern of University Park, FL; father Wayne (Sue) Claridge of Calais, ME, step-father David (Dottie) Fenderson of Brewer, ME; three sisters, Catherine (David) Stone of Cary, NC, his twin Crista, (Scott) Lukoski of Newberry, SC and Cherilyn (Dean) of University Park, FL; closest confidant Douglas Alston of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, a step-brother, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins from the US and Canada.

Graveside services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL where Craig's ashes will be buried with a visitation headstone to commemorate his life. A reception celebrating his life will follow immediately and all are welcome. Service and reception details to be announced at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Craig's honor to help wounded veterans at woundedwarriorproject.org.

I have always admired Craig´s work ethic and genuine nature. His dedication and eagerness to continually learn and grow is something that I embody in my day to day life. He instilled in me the value of learning and how to grow as a person. Although this is a sad time and I will miss Craig; I am grateful for having the chance to know and interact with him. I know that he is in a better place.

I have known Craig since my early 20s as his sister Crista is one of my closest friends. I always remember Craig being there in the background and bugging me to no end to get a rise out of me. Craig and I have always maintained contact throughout all these years, I was recently helping him learn about real estate investment. I enjoyed talking to him so much and we often would talk for an hour or more on the phone just recently.

My one and only brother; I have so many fond memories of you! You were a fighter and I know you lived your best life despite not feeling well for many years. I am at peace knowing you are with Jesus and no longer suffering. Your family loves and misses you deeply, and we know that one day we will see you again. Rest in peace sweet brother! I love you, your little sis (aka JJ McKay)

My deepest sympathies to Craig's family and friends. Craig was a good friend in high school, I always thought of him as a protector. He was one of the good ones, gone way too soon.

My first memory of Craig was at meddybemps lake where I babysat him and his siblings for a week while their parents were away. We had so much fun. Craig was a curious and happy little boy.
