Craig Kurath Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11, 2022.
Craig W. Kurath
Dec. 2, 1946 - Nov. 27, 2022
After a lifetime of travel across the globe, Craig W. Kurath died peacefully Nov. 27, 2022, in Port Townsend, Wash., just short of his 76th birthday. Cause of death was a brain tumor. He was predeceased by his wife, Juliea Mossman his parents, Shirley and Carl Kurath; and his brother, Barry Kurath. He is survived by his sister, Marsha Jaske. Craig attended Grant High School ('65), OSU, PCC, and PSU, where he completed a BA in urban geography, and completed classes for an MS. Craig served in the U.S. Navy on the submarine Caiman.
Craig loved travel and water sports, skiing, sail boarding, wind surfing, biking, motorcycles, and in later years boating. In his travels Craig never encountered a stranger, just new friends. At his request, no service will be held.

Our sincere condolence to Craig´s family. He was a great shipmate and a very good friend. My wife Libby and I always enjoyed visiting with Craig on his tug, at the F1 Race when he visited us in Texas, playing with Bella & having a cup of coffee. He will always be remembered.

Craig was always a good friend with a positive outlook on life, a voracious reader of books and newspapers. A member of the Port Townsend Yacht Club and owner of a Lord Nelson Victory Tug where many good times were had. He will be missed.

Craig was an old friend who was kind, generous to a fault, and always had a story to tell. He'll be greatly missed!

My condolences to his family. He was a great shipmate, and neighbor in Sherwood. We had many great times on Caiman.
