Craig Pritzlaff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 5 to Oct. 8, 2023.
Craig Allen Pritzlaff, born October 26, 1961, died October 3, 2023. Craig battled multiple sclerosis for the last 20 years of his life, ultimately succumbing to its physical effects. But he never let his illness dampen his spirit or will to live. He is survived by his loving wife, Rikki Pritzlaff, stepchildren, Shawna and Daniel Sullivan, mother, Carol Goetz Pritzlaff (late father, Ronald), and siblings Suzanne Pritzlaff, Frank Pritzlaff (Andrea Goetz), Carla Schmitt (Mike Rodenkirch), and Ron Pritzlaff (Leanne), and many other family and friends. Craig had a special bond with his mother. As a child he would bring her flowers every May Day, continuing the tradition with a phone call every year when he grew older and lived out west. Craig loved all things science. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a combined Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. He went on to work in the biotech industry as a research technician in Seattle and San Diego. He went on to get a Masters in Teaching degree from Southern Oregon University and enjoyed teaching middle school science in White City, Oregon. Craig cherished opportunities to help people, especially those less fortunate than he. And he was quick to speak his mind and share his wisdom. Craig loved nature, hiking and camping all over the western United States. He made a formative trek to the west with his cousin, Chris, and his best friend, Hubie, after high school that led him to ultimately settle there. Craig spent a magical time in his younger years in New Zealand with his cousin, Chris. He appreciated, the opportunities he had to enjoy the outdoors with his wife and stepchildren at Agua Caliente, Mt. Lassen, Sequoia National Park, and the Redwood Coast among many other places. He loved all music, especially that of the Grateful Dead and 50's and 60's jazz. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A private memorial gathering will be held. Eugene, Oregon -
