Craig Samuel Severson

Craig Severson passed at age 71 on Tuesday July 29th surrounded by loved ones following a short illness. Craig spent his entire life utilizing his mechanical, electrical, plumbing, construction and farming skills and expertise to help others. He became well known in Boone County for his many talents and was always willing to lend a hand. His "Pops", Larr-mo Sprecher and Don Bunning were instrumental in mentoring Craig in construction out of high school. He built a few houses on his own.

After graduating from United Community in 1972, Craig spent many years working at Sunstrand, Heartland Ag, Kammin Farms and Boone County Secondary Roads until his retirement in 2022.

During those rare times that Craig was not working on something mechanical or helping out a friend, he spent many "meetings of the minds" with his best friends JD, Mikey and Matt at Kammin Farms. Craig cherished spending time at home in "God's Country". He relished being a dad and grandpa, hanging out in the garage reminiscing with his Severson family and being an Uncle. Craig was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye and Green Bay Packers fan.

Throughout the years, Craig became a self-taught expert with cars. His 1967 Corvette Stingray was his all time favorite although Chevelles and Novas came in a close second. He spent many Saturday nights at the Boone Speedway rooting for his favorite #82.

Preceding him in death was his "Pops", Gordon. Survivors include his daughter Samantha Jo (Mike Dahl) granddaughters Reghan Chevelle Dahl and Lillian and Vivian Hauge, grand dogs Indy Jo and Paxton, mother Dolores, brother, Dwight (Vicky) and sisters Jacquelyne, Patrice (Tony) , Caree "Annie", Cheryl Beth (Dan) and Cousin Gus (Beth) who Craig considered as a brother, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Craig's favorite saying when he left family gatherings was not goodbye, but "See ya, wouldn't want to be ya!"

Per his wishes, he will be cremated. There will be an informal celebration of life Saturday August 9th 10 a.m.-noon at The Lodge at Seven Oaks in Boone.
