The American Soldier does not serve and fight because he hates who is in front of him; he serves and fights because he loves who is behind him.
The World today, is a better place, because of this Soldier’s service.

The Final Salute – In Memorial Honor to BG Curney Dronet
Louisiana National Guard
Brothers in Arms, Military men, and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and “as a way” to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to BG Dronet our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for the General, To the General, it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to our great country, State, and community during his service with the LA NG. BG Dronet, we honor your distinguished military record, and we commend you for your years of honorable service in the LA NG. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American Soldier: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true Soldier. We bid you a farewell. You are dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace. You were a “true Soldier!”

Our deepest condolences to Mrs Irene and the Dronet family. I first knew General Dronet when he was a Captain in the 2nd Bn 156th Infantry, Headquarters in St Martinville LA. I served and worked with him when the Battalion was relocated in Abbeville LA. As a commander, he would set high standards and expected his subordinates to meet those standards. When the standards were met, he would again set higher standards. He once told me that when you reach a point where you felt you were meeting the standards, you were setting yourself up to fail. Always set your standards high and work hard to continue to meet those standards.

My condolences to his family. I regretfully never met him (except, maybe as a child). I am a Dronet from a different great-great-grandfather. I read Curney's biographical book and enjoyed it thoroughly which also taught me some of my own family history. Thank you Curney for all that you did in your life-time.
