I knew Curt from Memoir Class and he was a wonderful, smart man. He shared his memoir with many of us in class. We also went to his home for a summer class and enjoyed his surrounding woods and pile of wood that he chopped himself. What a guy! We will miss him. Jeanne Rittlinger, Vernon, CT.

We at CLIR, UConn's lifelong learning program, are saddened by Curt's passing and want to express our gratitude for his many contributions to CLIR over the years. He was a longtime participant in the Memoir Club, co-leading it for a time; he presented many CLIR classes, and he served conscientiously as CLIR president. Several CLIR Council members remember him fondly: Curt did so much for CLIR and was fun to be around. What a full life - some tragic times but he always found ways to influence for good as teacher and volunteer. I did not know Curt well but I was always impressed with his intellect, his great knowledge of history, geography and so many other subjects, and also his great willingness and ability to communicate that knowledge. I consider it an honor to have known him. CLIR will miss him.
