COLUMBUS - Curtis H. Austin, 59, died Oct. 6, 2010, in Birmingham, Ala. Services are Saturday at noon at the James M. Trotter Convention Center in Columbus with the Rev. Kayin Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the service time at the Convention Center. Carter's Funeral Services has charge of arrangements. Mr. Austin was born in Columbus to the late Herman and Lucretia Austin. He was a judge, practicing attorney for 34 years, served on the Columbus City Council for eight years, served in the U.S. National Guard and was a member of Stephen Chapel MB Church, the Mississippi State Bar Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herman Austin. He is survived by his wife, Qua Austin of Columbus; children, Curtis Austin and Jessica Elise Austin, both of Washington, D.C., Whitney Austin Pointe of Woodbridge, Va., Amelia Rebecca Austin of Columbus; siblings, Mary Austin Woodrick of Columbus, Peggy Austin Greene of Brandon, Carol Austin Bryant of Leesburg, Kenneth Austin of Columbus, Charles Wayne Austin of Southaven and two grandchildren. Pallbearers include Curtis Austin Jr., Michael Melvin, Marcus Melvin, Jason Austin, Olanre Woodrick, Charles Austin and Kenneth Austin. In lieu of flowers, send donations to First Book Greater Golden Triangle, P.O. Box 1265, Columbus MS 39701; or Camp Rising Sun, P.O. Box 8241, Columbus MS 39705.

to the austin family i very soory about your lost and i want you to know that he was the best judge in columbus and i had him as judge when i was in columbus and he was the best ther was and he will be greatly missed but there is one thing you need to know ans that is he is in god hands and my family any i say we are very sorry for your lost and that we are oraying for the your family.
