Curtis Roy Kliewer

Curt Kliewer, aged 79, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed away on March 26, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1945, in Cordell, Oklahoma. Curt was a loving and caring partner to Teresa for the last 19 years. He was the son of Elmer and Martha Kliewer. Curt was a father, brother, grandfather, and a friend to many. He was a veteran of the US Armed Forces, serving in the US Army from 1963 to 1967. Curt always had dreams and aspirations, a positive attitude, and never gave up despite many years of continued health struggles. He passed away peacefully at home.

Curt is survived by his domestic partner, Teresa Bizzell and her son Melvin (Cassie) and grandsons Justin and Jeffrey ; daughters Tamara Owens (Doug Zapata) and Julie Kliewer; grandsons Cole Owens and Garrett Owens; brother Elmer (Marlene) Kliewer; nephew Christopher (Meegan) Kliewer; niece Kim (Chris) Kliewer Becker; sister Dorothy "Dottie" (Alan) Grantham; nephew Joshua (Ashley VanCurler) Grantham; sister Patricia "Patty" (Steve) Pittman; nieces Sarah Pittman and Noelle Pittman. He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Kliewer, mother Martha Funk Kliewer, brother "Butchie" Raylen Kliewer, and niece Rebecca Grantham.

Curt's career encompassed various roles, including serving in the US Army, working as a Fresno Bee Newspaper Typesetter and long haul truck driver. However, his long term career path went from car salesman to a dealership car sales manager and then a car rental agency owner .

He grew up in the Bethany Mennonite Brethren Church in Fresno, CA. In his younger years Curt enjoyed water skiing, dune buggying and camping with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, building classic cars, drag racing his car, riding his motorcycle and going to stock car and drag races. He loved traveling and always made the most of life. In his later years he became a skilled woodworker, producing artisan bowls, cutting boards and other objects. He also made beautiful custom made specialty knives.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to help with Curt's final expenses through the GoFundMe page "Laying Curt to Rest" at gofundme.com.

Curt will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Curt was one of my dad´s best childhood friends and they stayed close up til days before he passed. I don´t have a good story to tell, but Curt was always a part of my life! I grew up with his girls, Tammy and Julie. My family and theirs, spent LOTS of time together, especially in Pismo/Oceano, dune buggying! But everything changed when us girls got our ATC´s! Our parents wouldn´t see us for hours! (I think they liked that!)
Later in my life, Curt and Teresa ended up as our neighbors in the outskirts/countryside of Kingsburg! Such a coincidence how things come full circle like that! I loved having them there, and became great friends with Teresa. Like I said at the beginning of my story, Curt was always my dad´s friend and one of my dear friends, too! I know he loved me like his own because he would tell me that.
After he moved to Oklahoma, we would talk on the phone forever! I will miss my big friend, Curt
