Curtis E. Martin

Curtis E. Martin, 77, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at his home in Slidell, La. He was a native of Chilhowie and a resident of Slidell, La., since the early '60s. He was an agent with State Farm Ins. Company for the past 45 years. He was a member of the Slidell Elks, Slidell Moose Lodge and the Krewe's of Dionysus and Persues in Slidell. He was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Curtis N. Martin and Hallie Blevins Martin. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Geraldine Hohlbein Martin; five daughters, Vikki Headrick, Barbara Kathryn Martin, Adriene Butts, Deborah Edwards, and Shawn Fagot; two stepdaughters, Sherrie Canzonari and Lisa Lamont; three brothers, Howard Martin and Roger Martin, both of Chilhowie, and Wesley Martin and wife, Ruth, of Rome, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Akers of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Donna Lester and husband, George, of Piney Flats, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Howard, Kevin Buckley, Chad Buckley, Corey Butts, Codey Butts, Kathryn Edwards, Christina Edwards, Brooke Fagot, Jennifer Long, Joseph Labarge, Jilian Lamont, and Ellis Lamont; four great-grandchildren, C.J. Buckley, Richie Buckley, Kaden Buckley, and Shaelyn Buckley. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Martin Family Cemetery. The family received friends from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie, was in charge of arrangements.
