Graveside services for Curtis Wayne "Chico" Raines Sr. will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Silas Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Melvin Boles and Jessie Griffith officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Raines, 56 died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at his residence. He was a loved husband, father and "Paw Paw." Mr. Raines will be greatly missed by all and was affectionately known as "Chico" by many friends. Survivors include his wife, Barbara "Babs" Brewer Raines of Meridian; two daughters, Amanda Hopkins and her husband, Ray, of Toomsuba and Sonya Agustin of Meridian; a son, Curtis Wayne "Buddy" Raines Jr. and his wife, Charity, of Meridian; the mother of his children, Anita Bagwell of Philadelphia; a brother, Thomas Raines of Meridian; two sisters, Sheila Guthrie of Meridian and Angel Neighbors of Fairhope, Ala.; and six grandchildren, Brandon Hopkins, Bryan Hopkins and Shelby Hopkins, all of Toomsuba, and Dillon Lynn Raines, Dillon Austin Raines and Courtney Agustin, all of Meridian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lela Mae Raines and Thomas Cecil Raines; two sisters, Debra Ivy and Shirley Raines; and a grandson, Colby Wayne. Visitation will be held on the day of services, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Raines Jr., Johnny Raines, Joe Raines, Todd Johnson, Tony Slayton and Dave Carney.

So sorry to hear about Chico,I have known him all of my life,went to church togeather as kids at Bethany P.H. in Quitman,Ms. He was always there for me when I needed him."so long good buddy". This is to Buddy; always remember your daddy loves you very much and he will always be there in your heart,talk to him and listen and you will hear him leading you in the right direction.

We've never met but we're distant cousins. I just went through this same situation in Aug. when I lost my husband. It's hard but you do get through it. You're in my prayers.
