Cynthia L. Bedard

Cynthia “Cindy” L. Bedard, 68, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Cindy was born on February 6, 1951 in Springfield, MA to Richard and Barbara (Vantine) Torrey. She attended local schools and later became a nurse, working for Holyoke Hospital for over 30 years. She enjoyed hiking, horseback riding, time spent on the Cape, and needle point, but loved her family most of all. To cherish her memory Cindy leaves behind her two sons Michael Bedard and his wife Melissa of Agawam, MA, Christopher Bedard and his wife Sarah of Southwick, MA; daughter Andrea Rakaska and her husband Ron of Southwick, MA; her three grandchildren whom she had always wished for Elliot Bedard, Harlan Bedard, and Paxton Rakaska; brother Bruce Torrey and his wife Christine of East Longmeadow, MA; and former husband and friend Robert Bedard. Cindy was predeceased by her father Richard Torrey Sr., and her brother Richard Torrey Jr. A funeral home service will be held for her on Sunday, August 18 at 11AM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow, MA. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Cindy may be made to University of Massachusetts Memorial Foundation (UMMF) in support of the transplant program.
