Cynthia "Cindy" Cobb

Cynthia "Cindy" Cobb UPPER Cynthia "Cindy" Cobb, 66, of Texas City, passed away on Saturday, September 9th, after her courageous 7-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Her strength and resilience throughout this battle is one to be admired. Her grit and will to live, along with a little help from family, friends, and her care team at Texas Oncology enabled her to beat the odds of survival of this terrible disease.

Cindy was born on April 19, 1957, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Howell and Patricia Cobb. She grew up in several cities across Texas, including Corsicana and Terrell, eventually settling in Texas City. She graduated from La Marque High School in 1975. She was a loyal employee who began her administrative career at AMOCO Oil in 1976, transferring to AMOCO Marine 5 years later. After more than 20 years, she moved on to work at the College of the Mainland and retired after 18 years of working with her "kids." Cindy started her retirement by moving to Dallas to be closer to her family while battling cancer.

She loved gardening, especially tending to her plumeria plants. Cindy could often be found in her happy place of Galveston, Texas, or doing some serious card-sharking for pennies with her best friends. She was an avid baker and voracious reader. You could win her over with a Diet Coke from Sonic and a bag of Smarties, but most of all, she loved being called "Mimi" by her two granddaughters, Emma and Marley Slown.

Cindy was a beloved mother and best friend to her daughter, Katie Slown. She is also survived by her favorite son-in-law, Cameron Slown; devoted sister, Cathy Davis; brother-in-law, Bill Davis; nephew, Wes Davis; and niece, Megan Davis.

In lieu of flowers, Cindy requested donations be made in her name to PANCAN for pancreatic cancer research. Close family and friends will be notified of a future celebration of life.
