As my 7th Grade(1957)homeroom teacher in room 7-15 at Balmoral Junior High in Calgary, Cynthia introduced me to the joy of music an appreciation I have carried throughout my life. I will never forget her.

Cynthia was a very special music consultant and friend. She had such a positive outlook and always found something interesting to discuss. As our telephone friend since we moved from Calgary 5 years ago, we found her to be content and happy to be in her home surrounded by her music and her books. We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her extended family .

I was sad to read about Cyn's (Miss Downe's) passing. My Mom and Cyn grew up together and I knew her as my Mom's friend as well as a music director in Rosedale school when I was growing up, and had to her address her as Miss Downe. She was a wonderful lady, great friend to her friends and would love to chat, as long as you did not phone her during "Cornation Street", she will be missed.
With warm thoughts.

About +40 years ago, when public education was well funded, there were music consultants with the Calgary Board who helped many a novice teacher hone their skills. Cynthia was one of those people who would visit my music classroom to give me support and
encouragement. She was a grand lady in the truest sense of the word. A true mentor!
