To Alan Dary (junior);
I am so sorry that you are now a member of "the club" -- having lost a father. While I didn't know your dad, so many people DID and he seemed to be larger than life in the world of radio.
And, he was a gallant service man. Please know that I am thinking of you and your family.

To the Dary family, I probably saw Uncle Alan a dozen times in my life, but the Hirst children always held him in awe, because of his profesion. Our hearts go out to you all.
Love,

Mr. Dary,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in Europe during WW II-especially at Normandy. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Alan Dary was wonderful. I remember a signature piano crescendo which he would voice-over when transitioning to the news at the top of the hour, inviting you to keep listening. He was one of the great talents on WHDH during the late 1960's and early 1970's when I remember him. Each brought dignity and class to the airwaves. Along with Jess Cain and Norm Nathan, he entertained with true decency, good humor, friendly wit, and modesty. What a wonderful legacy which he, and all the great personalities of his era, created for us. May the angels welcome him to Paradise. May Heaven bless his family for all the joy which he brought to living.

I first met Alan when I went to work at WHDH in the 1960's. He was a true gentleman. Many times during the spring and summer my husband, Leo Egan, would travel up to Bellevue CC to play golf. I would follow later and then would go to dinner with Alan and Charlotte. We all got along so well and had many good times together. My condolences go out to his family and may he rest in peace.
