Cynthia was a great inspiration to me. I met her through my mother when my mom was involved in the neighborhood and mother's in touch. They became great friends and under her leadership my mom was part of her neighborhood crime watch. The passion she had for helping others always showed. She has inspired me to continue how she did helping others and being a great neighbor. The meals she brought to our house will never be forgotten. :)

Cynthia Gonzales was a dedicated worker and a loyal friend. She always wanted to give people presents when none were expected. What she didn't realize was that just her being here was all the present we needed. Rest in peace.

I was so saddened to hear of Cynthia's passing through a mutual friend of ours. I met Cynthia many years ago when we both worked at SMT in Laredo. We became good friends and I always admired her poise. She was a person that had big goals and by what I have read she definitely accomplished quite a bit. I don't even remember when we lost touch, but nevertheless I am very saddened. My condolences to her husband and son. She was a good person.

Cindy was such a caring, giving person. It's no wonder that so many people have expressed this in their condolences. I'm not sure if she ever met someone who she felt needed help and didn't respond. I was privileged to be her friend; I know I will miss her.

Dear Ed,
I was unable to get with you last night when I visited the funeral home. Cindy must have been loved by many because the sanctuary where the service was being held was already full when I arrived and more folks just kept coming. We all feel your family's loss. Perhaps no other person is more important than the one we choose to share our life's experiences and for you that was your beloved Cindy. Rest assured that she is smiling down on you and Alex, waiting for you to rejoin her someday. All the while I am sure she will remain a precious part of your memories and of your heart.

Dear Ed and Alex, I only knew Cindy for a short 6 months when she teamed up with our Free to Breathe committee and raised thousands of dollars for her team and the cause of defeating lung cancer. In that short span of time, she left a lasting impression on me. I remember trying to call or text to offer her support or let her know I was praying for her, but she always found a way to bless me far beyond what she could have known. She had such a deep, abiding faith in God and she taught me by example the true meaning of trusting in God, leaning on God and believing in God's will. She wrote me and sent me a picture of your family and I literally prayed for her every day whenever God caused her to cross my mind. I gave her the devotional book, Jesus Calling, and she told me she loved the fact that she knew we were both reading it daily so in that way, it was as if we were praying together. On the Oct 14th entry, it says, "Bearing your circumstances bravely--even thanking Me for them--is one of the highest forms of praise." I believe she demonstrated that more than anyone I have ever known. Alex, please know that she always loved to talk about you and her greatest hope was to attend your graduation. Ed, you were a rock for her and you were there for her, keeping her comforted and secure. I will miss her so much and I can assure you that I truly wish I had known her longer. God truly took one of this earth's most precious saints when He called her home.

Eddie and Alex,
My heart is heavy tonight to hear about Cynthia. While we met only last April through the Free To Breathe Organization, Cynthia and I spent over an hour on the phone laughing, crying, sharing deep thoughts, our families, health remedies, spiritual sharing and our sense of humor too! She was a strong woman and loved her family so much! She gave her all and I am honored to be able to meet her. Eddie you are wonderful too! We all marveled at your gentle spirit during the Free To Breathe meeting dinner and at the Event in May. You were a strong tower for her. Alex, she adored you. She told me what a great young man and how proud she was of you. She was looking forward to your upcoming graduation from Texas Tech (Both of my daughters graduated from Tech) Your family will be in my prayers and know that I feel so honored to know Cynthia. She will certainly be missed. We need to keep the fight to beat this disease!

I met Cynthia at a Neighborhood Networking Event in September of 2010. She offered to help me with setting up a Crime Watch program in my neighborhood. I still have prior emails from her and she truly made a lasting impression on me, even though I only met her one time. Such a generous, helpful lady with a smile one cannot forget. It was truly a pleasure to have met her and share communications with her. God bless her family.

Sometimes the most beautifully radiant flowers are picked from the garden of life much too soon...God has His reasons that we just don't understand...as mysterious as His ways are, His love is as unquestionable as it is unconditional...Cynthia, you radiated love and life in all directions and touched so many people in so many ways. You will be missed, but never forgotten. You will continue to inspire us all with your courage and generosity.

Cynthia, your memory is something many, myself included, will cherish for the rest of their lives and countless will experience the glory of even if they never know your name. The innumerable lives you touched with your warm and loving smile and the delicate care you put into ever interaction throughout your day was the stuff of Royalty. God held you throughout your life in the center of his heart -- a place you freely shared with everyone you met. Compassion overflowed every part of your being and was always a reminder that God is here, he is holy, and he loves us. Thank you for being the best example of what love and justice can and should be in this life. Blessings to Ed, Alex and your family.

She was and is an inspiration to those she touched. It is with a heavy heart that I bid her farewell. She is in the presence of our Lord and Saviour.

My deepest sympathy to Eduardo and Alex. Cynthia was a beautiful lady, whose spirit and kindness touched many people, and I am grateful to have met her and visited with her at Browning Oil.
During her valiant fight to beat cancer, she inspired many people and gave others hope and encouragement. She will be missed, but I know God has a new special tenant in Heaven with her arrival.
May God's peace and love be with her and her family.
