You were always so sweet with a heart of Pure Gold. For years you came over to my mother's home and worked the magic of your God given talent as a beautician. Her hair would be impeccably done. Your spirit was always the same gentle and sweet. We thank you for the laughter and words of kindness that you always disseminated. It had been awhile since I last saw you but no one told me that you were ill and although we would have wanted you to stay around for a lot longer there is one thing that we know is true and that is that God is much too wise to make a mistake and He knew that it was time for us to let go. He then took you into His Arms and allowed you to take that journey to the throne in that land where every day is Sunday and the Sabbath will have no end. I am certain that we will someday meet again somewhere up there in the middle of the air. Until then sweet Elaine we will continue to toil on; for we have miles yet to travel before we sleep.

As I'm headed to say my final goodbye my heart is so heavy. My kids love you like you were their grandmother. You have been like family to us all. I'm grateful for the yrs. I have known you and the love you have shown my babies. I met you when they were in elementary and now they or 14, 16, and 18. Throughout the yrs we have shared meals (mainly yours because you loved to cook, and since I did too when I'd call you'd say yea tell Shun to sennd it :-) ) and you've even taught my son to bake a cake. I'm saying this to say Mrs. Elaine thank you for spendding time with a family that wasn't yours and making us feel like family. You will forever be missed by myself, Kendrick, Kendell, and Kendra. We loved you then and we love you now.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

This is for a selfless kind hearted big cousin that gave her last to whom ever was in need. When you asked a question you got the whole truth never sugar coated anything and when something was serious and yet funny she would try not to laugh but when she did smile she lit up the room with her big beautiful smile.
