Cynthia Jane Elizabeth Llewellyn passed to the life immortal on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Cynthia's transition to her new life in Christ was perfectly in character with the life she lived for 96 years - quiet and remarkable. Cynthia was born in Victoria, BC, August 28, 1920, the only child of Harold and Edith Llewellyn (nee Pennell). She moved with her parents to Vancouver in 1935, and graduated from Magee Secondary School and Western School of Commerce. Cynthia worked for the Bank of Montreal and then enlisted in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRCNS), serving 1943-1946 and stationed at Jericho Beach, Esquimault, and London, England. After the war, she worked as an executive secretary at BC Electric/BC Hydro until retiring in 1980. Cynthia's life of service included many years as a Cub leader and leadership trainer with Scouts Canada. She was awarded Scouting's Medal of Merit. Cynthia sang with the Vancouver Bach Choir 1966-1998. Cynthia was active in many capacities during the approximately 78 years she attended Christ Church Cathedral. She sang in the choir from 1948-1975 and participated in numerous Anglican diocesan and national committees. She received the Anglican Award of Merit and the Order of the Diocese of New Westminster. Cynthia was one of the founders of the 127 Society for Housing. The recent completion of new Jubilee House and the Cathedral bell spire were joys to her. As she requested, a Memorial Eucharist will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver on Saturday, December 17, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Cathedral or the 127 Society for Housing.
