Cynthia Volk Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 8 to Mar. 9, 2011.
Cynthia Kemp Volk It is with profound sadness that we announce that Cynthia Rose Kemp Volk passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6th, 2011 in the Palliative Care ward at St. Paul's Hospital after a long and difficult 16 month battle with cancer. Her journey with this terrible disease is now over and she is at rest with God. Cynthia was predeceased by her father, Harry. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Volk; mother, Barbara Kemp; sister, Myrna (Nogier); brothers, Eugene (Phyllis) Kemp and Murray (Valerie) Kemp; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Cynthia was born in Davidson, SK in 1955 and moved to Saskatoon when she was 3. She attended George Vanier Catholic School and later Holy Cross High School. She also attended the U of S where she received her teaching degree. Cynthia and Bruce were married on September 6th, 2008 and had a very short but wonderful life together before she was diagnosed with cancer. Cynthia was a very compassionate and caring person and was loved by all she came in contact with. She was also a profound animal lover and would go out of her way to make sure that everything she came in contact with was protected. Cynthia was a very spiritual person as well and will be received with open arms by God. We would like to thank Dr. Ken Stakiw and the entire staff of angels at the Palliative Care ward at St. Paul's hospital for their loving and compassionate care of Cynthia in her final days. Your loving attention to Cynthia is appreciated more than you will know and will never be forgotten. The Vigil for Cynthia will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 7:00 pm and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, March 11th, both services held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church (222 Willow Street) with Rev. Father Les Paquin as celebrant. A lunch will follow. Rite of Cremation Committal will follow at a later date conducted by Rev. Father Raymond Senger. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic or the Palliative Care Ward at St. Paul's Hospital. Arrangements in care of David Schurr MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
