Cyrus Chung-Ying Tang passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born January 9, 1930 near Suzhou, China, he immigrated to the United States in 1950.

Shortly after immigrating to the United States, Mr. Tang founded his first company, National Material, based in Chicago.

His wife, Cecilia, died in 2013. Survivors include his son, Michael Tang, daughter Emily (John) Tang Chen and grandchildren Michelle, Mariel, Adrienne, Alexander and Stephanie.

Mr. Tang will be recognized at two memorials:

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 12-2pm with eulogies beginning at 1pm at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, Nevada, 89113.

The primary memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Cyrus Tang Hall of China in the Field Museum, 1400 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois, 60605, with visitation from 10am-4pm with eulogies from 1pm - 1:30 pm.

He will be remembered by all for his accomplishments in business and philanthropy. His son, Michael, says "his passion to succeed serves as an inspiration for everyone who has been touched by him."

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Cyrus may be made to the Cyrus Tang Foundation, 8960 Spanish Ridge Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89148 or to the charity of your choice.
