I had the privilege of knowing Doug for 50 years. He and my Dad worked at the Ga. Railroad Bank together. He was a wonderful person and always took and interest in me, even when I was a teen. I had not seen Doug in a few years, but I did have the opportunity to talk to him when he was nominated for the ARC Hall of Fame. I was helping out the committee, and called him to get a resume. I new his age, because he was a little younger than my Dad. However, I was immediately struck on how sharp his mind was, and the things he could remember about the early days at the Bank. We had a pleasant conversation, and I was so happy that we were able to honor him while he was still alive. He was the epitome of a "Southern Gentleman", and was a great Statesman for Augusta. I and all Augustans that new him were truly blessed.......and we will miss him. Praying for Betty and his family.

Mrs. Barnard, my family and I (Corey Bernard named for Congressman Barnard in 1977) send our Condolences and love to you and your family. I thank God I could personally meet, serve and speak with him. It's perfectly fitting that his Home going is on Martin Luther King Day!!! Magnificent men of God. I'll be there and here for your assistance.
