I was a brand new student finding my way with my parents in 1988. Dean Conrad introduced himself and walked us around, showing us where everything was. He also taught my first Psychology class at AIC. Such a great man. He was so helpful and kind.

Someone I miss every day. A mentor, a grandfather figure, someone who always had the time for a very odd and difficult college student, he taught me so much about history, theater and what being human truly meant. I wouldn't be where I am without this wonderful man

Just last week as I was talking to some of my students about finding the right job..... I spoke about how Irv was instrumental in shaping my career and also being there when I needed guidance or just someone to say you´re doing great. We all need a
Dean Conrad (Irv) in our lives I was lucky to have the one and only. Please know that Irv is remembered every day.

His name came up during a family discussion on moments and people who made a difference in our lives. After 55 years, he remains in our minds and hearts.

Dean Conrad was truly one of the most special people I ever met. I went to AIC in his last four years there and he became like the grandfather I never had. When he found out I had an interest in theater, he did everything he could to encourage me to revive the Garret Players, even building a massive fake pip organ and having his maintenance staff build the sets. He was a wonderful teacher as well be it theater or military history (which I never would have taught successfully without his guidance)
I spent dozens of hours in his office listening to his amazing stories and discussing, history, politics, the theater and life. He was one of the most generous and influential people I have ever known and his is a loss for us all.

Dean Conrad is my most cherished memory of my time at AIC. As President of the Student Government 2000-2001, I had a standing weekly meeting with Dean to discuss all new business to cross my desk that week. We ironed out the few issues that came up and spent hours talking through my assigned hour. He was the most supportive educator I had ever met. He treated me like a peer instead of a student, he taught me how to be a leader and how to control my temper and be diplomatic in college politics. It was because of his mentoring that we got things done. Lessons I have learned in that office, while he smoked his pipe and I complained about the number of parking spaces available to commuters, were ones that I will keep with me forever. I bumped into him about ten years ago and gave him a big hug and I felt like I was an undergrad back in his office. I wish I saw him again to tell him I have two beautiful children. One of the most impactful things he ever said to me was, The only way to secure your immortality is through your children. I know he loved his own and his grandchildren and especially his wife and I thank the Conrad family for sharing him for all of those years at AIC.

It was a warm, enthusiastic and welcoming discussion with Dean Conrad that made me decide to attend AIC. His Canadian roots helped seal the deal for this applicant from Montreal.

A wonderful life long memory for me. Thank you for your life.

Dean Congrad was one of my favorite people from American International College. It was never a dull day with this great man. Even as I write this the dean always loved spring and summer and could always find him sitting under his favorite tree smoking his pipe and reading a book. When i would see him we talk and often he gave me some cliff notes on his days in the military but mostly he asked about my life. When i joined the ranks of fulltime employment at the college he welcomed me to the family and gave me the do's and dont's. I will forever fondly remember the story of when the campus police put their radio antenna on the radio station tower and when it was discovered their radio's were getting our station he came down and demanded the station went off the air. When it was explained the only person could do that was the president of the United states he was less then thrilled and left only a few days later did he chuckle. Dean Conrad there are many stories i will cherish but this one tops the list. May you rest in peace and I send my deepest sympathies to your loved ones and all your friends.Crazy joe
