Mrs. Daisy G. Broom, 77, of Winnsboro, SC, departed this life Friday, April 3, 2009, in Palmetto Richland Hospital. Born to the late Ola Pickney Gaither and Arthur Gaither. She was a member of Bethesda A.M.E. Zion Church. She was educated in the schools in Fairfield County. After 20 years of service working as a dietitian, she retired from Everett School.
She loved to dance and spend quality time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Broom will be truly missed by everyone. She was predeceased by her husband, John Henry Broom, Sr.; two sons, John H. Broom Jr. and Larry Jerome Broom; two brothers, Frank Sr. and Otto Gaither; one sister, Virginia Kennedy.
Survivors include four sons, Willie J. Broom, Clinton (Teshawnda) Broom, both of Winnsboro, SC, Samuel (Sara) Broom of Rock Hill, SC, Daniel (JoAnn) Broom of Ridgeway, SC; three daughters, Eda C. (Donald) Holmes of Winnsboro, SC, Viola Linda (William) Killian of Hickory, NC, Nancy (Bill) Boulward of Carlisle, SC; four sisters, Mozell Wright, Mattie Gaither, Jimmie Boyd and Nancy Green, all of Winnsboro, SC; one brother, Paul Gaither of Alexandra, VA. Mrs. Daisy also leaves to mourn: her 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family would like to thank Charity Lumpkin, Mary Broom Adams, Cleethel Hodges, Carolyn Thomas and Bernice Mann for their love that they gave Daisy in her time of need.
Russell-McCutchen Funeral Home in Winnsboro, SC, is in charge of arrangements.
Wake is Wednesday, April 8, 2009, 7:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m.
