Dale Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2025.
Dale Allen, 75, passed away on August 25, 2025, in Shenandoah, Texas. Born on October 22, 1949, in Washington D.C., Dale lived a life rich with music, faith, baseball and laughter.

From an early age, Dale was drawn to the rhythm and soul of music particularly by Elvis Presley and Motown sounds. He began his career in Silver Spring, Maryland with a high school band, but at just 18 years old, he followed his passion westward to the vibrant music scene of San Diego. There, he became a beloved local figure-known as a singer extraordinaire-lighting up nightclubs such as the Alamo and The Pomerado and performing regularly at local casinos and cruises. His musical talent even took him to national television where he participated as a finalist, for a co-host position for a well known game show.

Though music was his lifelong calling, Dale also had a deep love for baseball. A gifted pitcher in his youth, he once had the opportunity to play professionally but ultimately chose to follow his heart into music. His athletic achievements were recently honored by his alma mater-the Wheaton Knights-with an award recognizing his contributions to their baseball legacy. He remained close with former teammates and especially cherished his enduring friendship with Coach Norm Hatfield.

Dale's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. Known affectionately as a "fisher of men," he shared his love for Christ wherever he went-leaving gospel tracts tucked into magazines or behind airplane seats and joyfully recounting Bible stories and scripture to whomever lent a willing ear. His devotion was unwavering and deeply felt by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna Allen. Children: Scott Allen, Mary Mitchell, Joseph Allen. Stepchildren: Michael Grewenig, Justin Conner, Jarrod Conner, Brother: Gary Allen, Sister: Dianthe Johnson, and 9 Grandchildren: Nikolas, Malex, Scott, Jordan, Caleb, Charlie, Ashley, Noah, Jenessa. He was preceded in death by his older sisters Lois and Barbara and younger brother Artie.

Dale will be remembered for his great sense of humor, boundless talent, steadfast faith, and the joy he brought into every room he entered. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his voice and spirit.
