Dale Boyer Obituary
August 28, 2008 age 80, of Scott Township, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, on Thusday, August 28, 2008; beloved husband for 55 years of Jean (Groves) Boyer; loving father of Alyson J. Boyer and Megan E. (Jack) Jasin; devoted grandfather of Braden, Morgan and Logan Jasin. Mr. Boyer was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy for more than 3 years. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State Teacher's College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania; a Master's Degree and Administrative Certificate from the Univerity of Pittsburgh. He taught in the Penn Hills School District and was Prinicpal of Ben Franklin and Forbes Elementary Schools from 1952 until 1966. From 1966 until his retirement in 1986, he served the Mt. Lebanon School District as Principal of Foster, Howe and Markham Elementary Schools. He also served as Director of Planning for a period of time. Mr. Boyer was a former president of the Elementary School Principal's Association of Allegheny County and a former president of the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary School Principals. He was a lifelong member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the Association for Childhood Education International. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm, Monday 1-4 only. A Memorial Service will be held in Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church, Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment will be private. If desired, memorials may be made to the church at 3319 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.

Mr. Boyer was my principal at Howe school in Mt. Lebanon, and Mrs. Boyer was my kindergarten teacher. I have very fond memories of both of them. My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Boyer and her family.

To Mr. Boyer's family: I just want to say that I was one of his students at Forbes Elementary and what I remember more than anything was the fact that he took me home one day in his own car, when my mother did not show up. He waited at the door until I told him I was fine. He was extremely caring and kind as a principal. My sympathy to all of you.

Mrs. Boyer and Family,
I was one of Mr. Boyer's fourth grade students at Ben Franklin School in Penn Hills in 1955. He was one of my favorite teachers! He was very caring and compassionate and loved teaching the youngsters. My deepest sympathy to all.
