Sorry to hear of Dale's passing. I was just thinking of him the other day while reflecting on where I ended up (Senior Technical Staff Member in IBM development) from where I started (all C's in the 2nd division in Middle School). I think Dale Huff had a part in turning my life around. I still remember him inviting me into the teacher's room in 7th grade to talk me into playing the tuba. The tuba for goodness sake! Well, it gave me an opportunity to connect to something I could do well and to experience success through his constant encouragement. I think that success helped me know what it was, and enabled me to translate the process to other things. That year was a real turn around for me, and I give Dale Huff some credit for making it happen. I wish I had the opportunity to tell him that.

Bumpa you always knew how to put a smile on anyone's face. I remember he waved to everybody we drove by and I asked him do you know them. And he said idk I probably do but it I don't a wave still goes a along way. He also showed me how small of a world it really is because no matter where we were whether up in Maine or in New Hampshire he was always running into someone he knew. If I could leave even a quarter of an impact on this planet as he did I know that would be a life accomplishment. May you rest in peace Bumpa

So sorry to hear about Dale's passing. I enjoyed knowing him and hearing the band play when I worked in Millinocket ! Dale had a wonderful sense of humor and truly cared about his students. He was a dear friend during that time.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Huff's passing. He was my first band director when I moved to Millinocket in 78'. He passed his love of clarinet and music on to me while always encouraging me to play at my best. He was an awesome teacher and an even greater person. I will always get a chuckle remembering how when anyone forgot their clarinet during band class, he would lend them his! Needless to say, I used his a lot! To Scott and your family - my prayers are with you. Mr. Huff, may you be blessed for all you have given to all your students. Play on for all of Heaven, Mr. Huff! Paula Vaznis Graham

Dear Huff Family,
I grew up in Guilford, back in the heyday of the George Himes bands at PCHS. I remember the Huff family and Dale's amazing talent as a trumpet player. The band trips and concerts hold such fond memories. Spending summers on Whetstone Pond was the greatest ....... RIP

Mr. Huff was one of my favorite teachers. I sometimes, 20+ years later, remember him saying to me, "You played the first eight measures like you owned 'em. Now play the rest that way!" Words to live by. Rest well, Mr. Huff. Very sorry for your loss, Scott...He talked of you often and proudly.

Scotty and Robin, so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I'll always fondly remember Middle School Band, and especially the great fun we all had traveling with him and the rest of the Jazz Band. He was truly the cornerstone of Millinocket's phenomenal music program in the 1970s and 80s. You and your families are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so truly sorry for your loss. Mr. Huff was an amazing teacher and once told me that I was creating a wonderful retirement fund for him someday .50 at a time going through the number of Clarinet reeds I did a week. I had a nasty habit of chewing on them.I truly hope your retirement years were wonderful and that those .50 reeds added up to something special.

I'll always remember Uncle Dale for his great musical abilities and fun attitude toward life. Uncle Dale was known in the Morrell family for his famous jokes that everybody loved. I remember visiting him and Ann @ their camp on the pond for my 20th high school reunion. We had a lot of laughs as they showed me the holes in the walls of the camp where you could see outside! I remember sleeping on the porch of that same camp as a little kid.
