Dale Claude Legal

Dale Claude Legal, 74, of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away Saturday December 9, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean, their two children, Kelly (Ted) and Eric, as well as four grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Glenn and Phillip, and sister, Elaine. Dale was born on April 16, 1943 in Baltimore, MD to Casimer and Ruth Legal. He grew up in Howard County where he graduated from Howard High School. After graduation, Dale enlisted in the US Army from 1962 to 1965, during which time he was deployed to Korea. Dale attended the University of Maryland on the GI Bill, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1971. Dale worked in sales for Sealand, Seatrain Lines, and Control Data. In 1984, he founded his own Executive Search firm. He joined his wife's Real Estate practice at Long and Foster from 2003 through 2009. Dale and Jean resided in Howard County from 1980 until 2012; then moved full time to Anne Arundel County. Dale was an avid waterman. He loved to fish, sail, and be on the water as much as possible. He got his Captains License in 2009 and loved taking people out on the Chesapeake Bay. In 2010, Dale captained his boat down the Intercostal Waterway. Dale also enjoyed golf and had recently begun playing the guitar again. Dale volunteered with the Howard County ARC and more recently the South River Federation in Anne Arundel County. He was passionate about securing the ecological health of the Chesapeake for future generations. Most people would describe Dale as having a larger than life personality. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and could be described as a "big kid himself." Family will receive friends on Thursday December 28, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 at the Golf Club at South River, 3451 Solomons Island Road. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:00, also at the Golf Club at South River. A reception will be held following the service.
