As a graduate student at Miami University in the early 1980's, Dale was a favorite professor. His generous nature and love of design have always been an inspiration. I am sad to hear of his passing.

I have wonderful memories of Dale's parties in the Dayton area in the 1980s. A great mix of people, lively conversation, good music, beautiful food and lots of laughter. I wish I had pictures to share from those days! Dale planned parties as theater, and what fun to play a little part in them and in Dale's kind, rich and talented life. My sympathies to his loved ones.

Dear Jesse,
Bess and I are so saddened by this news. You and Dale had a relationship all committed couples envied. Dale's talent and fun spirit contributed to many happy times we spent with you both. We still live and enjoy the house Dale redesigned here in Elkhart. I also claim as one of Dale's well earned achievements, a city beautification award we received for a Merlin Muffler & Brake Shop Dale designed for me.
Love and God Bless, Jesse,
Bess & Bob Mater

In addition to all of his amazing talents and traits, Dale was the consummate teacher. Working with him at Levin's office was as important to my professional development as my years at U.C. Thank you, Professor Smith.

Jesse - Dale will always be an inspiration to architects and community leaders in the arts. As a fellow protege of David Niland from the University of Cincinnati, Dale always knew architecture was first a public art and a mantle he carried with pride, dignity and honor. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. I'll always remember his smile and positive outlook on the world.
