Dale Richard Tuttle, 73, of Mount Pleasant, SC, left this life unexpectedly Friday, May 13, 2022. The relatives and friends of Dale and Sue Tuttle are invited to attend his Funeral Service 10:00 AM Thursday, May 19, 2022 from the sanctuary of Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Blvd., Mt. Pleasant. The family will greet friends immediately following in the church's Family Life Center.
Dale was many things to many people, foremost the devoted, loving husband of Sue Tuttle for nearly 50 years. He was also the constantly supportive father of Kristin and Douglas, as well as the loving father-in-law to Douglas’s wife Meaghan and Kristin’s husband Charlie Strunk, and the delighted, adoring Beepah (grandfather) of Douglas and Meaghan’s children Dylan, Genevieve, and Patrick.
Dale was a kind, gentle-spirited, articulate, caring, witty man, who filled his life with the people and activities he enjoyed and held to be important. After working for many years in adult education at various universities and professional associations, where he helped non-traditional students receive the training and education they needed to advance their careers, he returned to school himself and earned his doctorate in Adult Education.
Service was an important part of Dale’s life, as evidenced by the more than 10 years he and Sue spent as volunteers in various parks within the National Park Service. Dale and Sue moved to South Carolina in 2014, and have served as volunteers in the Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park since their arrival. He also volunteered his time with the Seafarers International Union, assisting sailors when their ships were in port. Dale was an avid reader, sang in his church choir for many years, and enjoyed friendly games of cribbage and the card game sheepshead. In addition to the kindness, humor and warmth with which Dale treated everyone, his family and close friends will always remember his incomparable hugs.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dale’s name to the Fort Sumter - Fort Moultrie Historic Trust at www.fortsumtertrust.org or Seafarers International Disaster Relief Fund, www.seafarers.org/about/siu-information/disaster-aid-fund/.
Arrangements by James A. McAlister, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. (843) 766-1365.

Dale was a kind and lovely man. I enjoyed a few Christmas Eve celebrations with him and Sue at Charlie and Kristin’s home. I always admired the volunteer lifestyle of Dale and Sue. I know he will be greatly missed by his loving family and many others.

Oh my, the many years of knowing the Tuttle family. So many good times with Doug and Kristin here at our house while mom and dad worked. I know the two of you were looking forward to retirement and by the many pictures I have seen the two of you have enjoyed many adventures. So sorry for your loss. May you carry the beautiful memories in your hearts forever. We have never forgotten any of you and were blessed to have been a part of Dales life. Love and Prayers,
Dave, Vickie Chad and Missy

Dear, dear, Kristin, how devastating this must be for you and all those who love your Father. I am so very sorry for this loss to all who knew the wonderful man named Dale Richard Tuttle. Watching your father's "life in pictures" in the beautiful video tribute illustrates an amazingly GOOD MAN who fully loves his FAMILY and the beauty of nature & parks. I am sure he is very proud of you and of the woman he and your mother molded into someone we all love, respect and admire at H-D. Our thoughts and hearts are with you, sweet girl.
