Dallas Faulkner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 20, 2025.
Stockton - Retired Stockton Police Sergeant Dallas L. Faulkner passed away on October 3, 2025, after a lifetime of dedicated service to his community and country.

Born in Nyssa, Oregon, in 1934, to Norton and Marjorie (Edwards) Faulkner, Dallas moved to Stockton shortly afterward, becoming a lifelong resident. A United States Navy Reserves veteran, he joined the Stockton Police Department in 1956 and retired as a Sergeant in 1988 after more than 30 years of service.

During his distinguished career, he rose to the rank of Sergeant and served in multiple divisions, including Robbery-Homicide. A highly respected leader, he also dedicated himself to the welfare of his colleagues, serving as President of the Stockton Police Officers Association and the SPOA Widows and Orphans Fund. Known for his marksmanship, he was an expert firearms instructor and served as a Department Range Master. He was also a member of the Department's champion pistol shooting team in the 1960s. Sergeant Faulkner's most enduring legacy is his role as the driving force behind the creation of the SWAT Team, proudly serving as the team's first SWAT Commander.

Outside of his service, Dallas was a man of firm loyalties and a warm presence. An avid hunter and lifelong supporter of conservation, he was a dedicated member of Ducks Unlimited. Following his retirement from the Stockton Police Department, he remained dedicated to public safety, serving as President of Delta Hawkeye Security before ultimately purchasing the company. He also passionately continued his mentorship by teaching as an instructor at the San Joaquin Delta College Police Academy. His character was defined by the wisdom that one should never be afraid to help someone else succeed-a principle he lived by. He was known for his firm handshake and his easy, welcoming smile. Described by many as a mentor and a friend, he leaves a legacy that is most evident in the next generation of men he inspired to pursue careers in law enforcement.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Faulkner; his children, Dallas M. Faulkner, Kevin Faulkner, Sheree Coe (Lyle), and Leslie Wright (Dave). His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
