Damian Michael Stubenrauch

Damian Michael (Mike) Stubenrauch, 80, of Barrington, IL passed away on March 14, 2025. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 8, 1944 to Joseph and Elsbeth (nee Krutz) Stubenrauch and grew up in Palatine. Mike was an entrepreneur in the Palatine business community, first owning Janeal Draperies in the early 1970s and then, CMI Creative Mechanix, Inc. for the past 46 years. He loved serving both his customers and the community. Mike had an incredible work ethic and integrity. He was a perfectionist and everything he did was done with that in mind.

Mike's greatest joy was knowing his children and grandchildren were all doing well. Family was everything to him and he loved spending time with them, especially on his porch/deck on Grove Avenue. Special memories include all the times spent discussing jobs, cars, current events or just giving advice on life or how to fix or repair something or just sitting and watching the birds… those times helped all of us slow down while life seemed so busy. He loved classic cars, parrot and flamingo décor, oldies music, classic movies and radio shows, and tinkering with his model cars and watches.

Mike leaves behind his loving wife of 29 years, Diana (nee Fisher). He was a loving father to daughters Kristy (Steven) Goodwin, Wende (Chad) Dau and son Richard (Geetha) Fisher; cherished Papa to grandchildren Olivia (DeVon) Canady, Addison Dau, Claire (Stanley) Oshirak, McIntyre Dau, Bradley Fisher, Nathan Fisher and great-granddaughter Moriah Canady; big brother to sister Barbara (Corey) Plazak and friend to former spouses Janet Carter and Darlene Verbelia.

Donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital may be made in Michael's name.
