Dana Reeve Obituary
Reeve died Monday of lung cancer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Medical Center, said Sean Dougherty, a spokesman for the foundation.
"We are extremely saddened by the death of Dana Reeve, whose grace and courage under the most difficult of circumstances was a source of comfort and inspiration to all of us," Kathy Lewis, president and CEO of the foundation, said in a statement.
Reeve won worldwide admiration for her support of her husband, the one-time Hollywood "Superman" turned activist for spinal cord research after a horse-riding accident in 1996.
She served as chairwoman of the Christopher Reeve Foundation and founded the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center.
Christopher Reeve died in 2004. In August, Dana Reeve announced she had been diagnosed with lung cancer. She said she had never smoked.
She said in November that said she was able to keep her spirits up because she "had a great model. ... I was married to a man who never gave up."
Reeve lived in Westchester County, near New York, with the couple's teenage son, Will. She has appeared on Broadway, off-Broadway and regional stages and on the TV shows "Law & Order," "Oz," and "All My Children."
"Dana will always be remembered for her passion, strength and ceaseless courage that became her hallmark," Lewis said. "Along with her husband, Christopher, she faced adversity with grace and determination, bringing hope to millions around the world."
She is survived by her father, Dr. Charles Morosini; sisters Deborah Morosini and Adrienne Morosini Heilman; two stepchildren, Matthew and Alexandra; and her son.

Dear Doctor Morosini,
We lived at 15 Mt. Joy Ave., in Edgemont, when Dana was in high school. She used to baby sit for our son David. We knew she was very special, so when our daughter was born, we named her Dana, after your special, sweet and beautiful daughter. My daughter has a little puter cup engraved "To Dana, from Dana" to this day.
We knew, before the rest of the world that Dana was a special young lady. I have no die how long it was before we found out that she was Dana Reeve. We will never forget her....never.

I just finished "Still Me" and have tried to find some of the movies Christopher was in that were mentioned in his book. I wasn't a big Superman fan but really like his role in the movies I've managed to drum up. Now I'm looking for Dana in what I've read she was in and her singing. The three children are beautiful and Dana and Christopher must be looking "down" beaming with pride. I don't live far from Culpepper VA and think of Christopher every time I'm near there. My better half is a spinal cord injured veteran who WALKS. I worked in SCI at the McGuire Veteran Medical Center for over 10 years and still work there, planning to retire in 2012. Miss you Chris and Dana but you left this world in better shape than you found it.

i can understand what it feels like to have a wife like you were to christopher. i am one of the very very very few lucky men who gets that devotion, loyalty and love from my wife every day. no matter what, we have been there for each other through harsh times that almost ended lives right through the little moments of incomparible beauty we both get in each others company.

Dana and Chris: I just finished the book "Somewhere in Heaven" and I believe anyone that loves or has the need for a great love in life should read this book and learn to live, love and cherish the love of their life the way you two shared your love story. I am fortunate to too have a love for my husband like Dana loved Chris and I believe that when death separated each of us, it does not diminish or separate that true love for one another. Everyone could learn a true lesson in reading what they shared in this book. May you both rest continually in each other's arms and have the light of God shining on both of you.

I think the highest complement you can pay someone is to like them. From the first time I heard of Chris, I decided I liked him. He was many things, but first and foremost he was a good guy. Of which, the world is far too short. Then I saw you and the nobility and character you displayed during Chris's illness and decided that you too are a "nice guy". While I was looking out through the clear night sky, the stars seemed to be shining a little bit more brightly than usual and for some reason Dana Reeve came to mind. Can't figure out why, of all people, she would be in my thoughts. Maybe because she had the presence of a bright star during her short dance here on this Earth. I never knew her or Christopher, but I can tell you that both of their spirits are missed greatly. God Bless them and the Reeve family.

To Will, Alexandra and Matthew and the Reeves and Morosini families. Dana was an inspiration who loved ehr husband and Will so much and for her goals and helping others. To be the wife of a man with a disability would be the hardest every day and to be there for him and to fight for him and his wishes and many inspirations. The foundation was theirs and they had people working for them but still it made such an impact on everyone. To be taken so young for them both and not reach their golden years together to see their grandchildren. To the children.. your Dad loved you so much. Dana was so caring just as much as a mother and step mother. We'll keep you all in our prayers and thoughts. I thought Superman was invincible! And to be the wife of Superman.. she had to be tough and just as invincible! I have a picture of them that Dana sent to me that I will cherish and a note written by her.

I was thinking about dana on the way to work last week in the morning. For some reason she seems to touch my heart frequently and i suppose it is because of all the adversity she endured in her later years with us. Dana Reeve inspired me to quit smoking when she announed her lung cancer on August 9, 2005. On August 18 this year I will have been two years smoke-free. I know she wasn't a smoker, and that inspired me even more to quit. I wanted to somehow show my appreciation for her bravery and inspiration. Thank you!

I just want to take this time to say what an impact Dana and Christopher made on my life over the years. Dana was so much more than the "wife" of an actor...or another beautiful face in crowd..she truly made a difference in this huge world. I miss her greatly but her smile and warmth is with me and others every day.
As a singer/songwriter, I'm still doing what I can to help in the cause..thanks for people like the Reeve's for leading the way for us all!

It is still so hard to believe that the world no longer has Dana Reeve. That beautiful smile, that voice so soothing (Madison Square Garden for Mark Messier's Day - Dana made it even more special), and her love of life will be forever instilled in my memory of Dana.

I send my deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Dana Reeve and my prayers will always include Will and all of the family.
I know only to well what it is to face losing a loved one to Cancer. I lost my Mother to Breast cancer, my Father to Brain Cancer and now facing myself with Uterus Cancer, Renal Cancer and Colon Cancer. I have been told that having 3 different Cancers all at one time is very rare but it does happen, I know only to well it does for sure happen as I have all 3 and am fighting every day against Cancer since they can not remove all of my Renal Cancer and I am not a candidate for any of the treatments as either the Renal Cancer is resistant to the treatment or my COPD and other medical problems keep me from being a candadate with other options that are out there for a person with RC. I just want (or maybe I just needed) to let all this out about myself so every one knows I know exactly the hurt and etc. that comes with losing a loved one to it. I wish I had even a partial of the braveness that both of them had.
Dana and Christopher were both one of the most brave and marvelous people that have ever walked on this earth.
My condolences go to the entire family. God Bless all of you and you will all remain in my prayers forever. There is no doubt that they both are reunited in heaven and watching over all the children to help guide and comfort them in this time of sadness.
