I married into the Ziskind Family that had a close relationship with the Bergers in their hometown of Pittsburgh. When I met Danny Berger , I knew him to be a unique human being with wisdom and integrity seldom equaled by others I had met or would meet in the course of a lifetime. Norman Arnoff

Dear Carol & family,

It was with great sadness that I learned yesterday of Dan's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.

The length of the line of those waiting to pay their respects to Dan's family was a measure of the quntity of the good will he had created through his life of friendship and service. The quality of that feeling was reflected in the stories told by his many friends and admirers in that line. I'm proud to be among them.

"This reads like a bunch of schoolboys got together and made a pact."

That was Danny's comment thirty-some years ago,
when the players of the Pittsburgh Symphony,
just beginning to stand on their hind legs,
displayed their such-as-it-was labor agreement.
So, Danny became our advocate, and pointed us
toward an eventual attainment of dignity and respect.

And who could forget the time it appeared to us
that a colleague had been baited into signing
a letter of resignation. Danny demolished it,
citing a long list of improprieties -
the most precious of which brought
this apoplectic snort from a manager:
(Through clenched teeth) "Hrumph! Not given under seal!!"

The affection of PSO musicians past, present and future
belongs to Attorney Daniel Berger - a terrific guy.

It was a privilege to know such an exceptional human being who served not only his family ,circle of friends, and community but every less fortunate human being he came in contact with over many years. He was truly a humanitarian and the Ziskind,Arnoff, and Wolff families will always cherish this life-time bond.

I knew Dan from college(fraternity brother) & as a fellow attorney. He was always very kind with a great sense of humor. He will be missed. I am out of town for the month & not able to pay my respects personally

Carol,

It was with sadness that we learned of Dan's passing. I don't know whether you would remember us but we attended several of your gatherings of the "Pittsburgh Contingent" (as Dan called us) of attorneys at your home in Naples. I tried many a case with Dan and always found him to be a worthy adversary and a gentleman of the old school with unquestioned integrity. He will be sorely missed by the Pittsburgh legal community. Our deepest sympathy.

Dan was an old friend in the legal profession and am saddened to hear of this untimely event. Dr. Burman and I are fraternity brothers from Syracuse University and my wife and I attended their wedding. Our contacts with Dan and the family were always rewarding ans well as enjoyable both professionally and socially. May his memory be a blessing forever.
