DANIEL BREEN

Dan (he insisted I not call him Mr. Breen) befriended me 25 years ago on the golf course by turning around and coming back to my tee and insisting I join his three-some. I doubt I could break 125 at the time. From that day on whenever I saw him he had a ready smile, a warm greeting and expressed a genuine interest in what I was doing in life. I knew then that this is how I wanted to behave. A true gentleman and a class act all around. It was an honor to know him and his fine family.

Mrs. Pat Breen, I grieve with you in your heartbreak at the loss of your husband, Daniel A. Breen, Jr. He was a giant of a man, and I am glad you were at the right place for your meeting. You were the light of his life and I am so sorry for your loss. Your union produced six wonderful sons and then their families. You are truly blessed. I was honored to work for your husband at Breen Trust Company and then Daniel Breen & Company. It was the light of my life! People in the elevator of our building used to say, "You must be a Breen, and I would proudly say"Yes"!". In case I didn't tell him enough, please let me tell you. I am grateful for being selected to work for your husband and being afforded the opportunity of climbing the mountain with the Breen Companies. Dan Breen was the ultimate gentleman. His smile and the twinkle in his eyes made one feel so special. I will miss sweet Dan as so many will. His precious family, Pat and all 6 sons, we're so blessed to have Dan in their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I am bereft with grief at hearing of Dan's death. He was a second Dad to me and filled my life with 25 years of memories. The best times of my life was being blessed to work side by side with him at Fayez Sarofim and helping to build Daniel Breen & Company L.P. and Breen Investors L.P. and in learning from the best. What an extraordinary business man and human being he was - one of a kind. I send my deepest sympathy to Pat and all the boys and ask that you call on me for anything, anything I can do to help you through this, now or in the future

I worked for Dan Breen 1977-1979. His passion, work ethic and energy level were legendary. One of the most approachable people I've ever worked with. Hard driving and forever client-focused. Inculcating his values and work ethic served me well in my subsequent career in corporate finance at Rotan Mosle and PaineWebber. Remarkable larger-than-life persona who will truly be missed by all who had the fortune to know and work alongside him.
