Daniel Patrick (D.P.) Cain

Atlanta - Daniel Patrick Cain, known to many as D.P., passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 86, surrounded by family.

Born in Peoria, Illinois, on February 1, 1939, to Sidney and Josephine (Biggins) Cain, D.P. spent most of his life in Peoria before relocating to Atlanta in 2022. He was a proud graduate of Spalding Institute, where he played football and competed as a diver.

D.P. served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and was called to active duty when the Berlin wall was constructed, stationed in Europe and Tripoli. In 1980, he founded D.P. Industrial Supplies, a company he faithfully operated for 37 years until 2017.

Above all, D.P. loved people. He had a servant's heart, always eager to help those in need and shine Christ's light in the world. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a true friend. Breakfasts with family and friends were among his favorite activities. Known for his humor, and his love of life and love for others, he lived a life full of love and faith.

D.P. is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sharie (Swegle) Cain; his son, Kevin Cain (spouse Joan Cain); and his grandchildren, Gabriel and Hannah Cain. He is also survived by his sisters Kathy Murray and Sheila Oakley. He was preceded in death by brothers Sidney (Vince) Cain and Richard (Dick) Cain, and by sister Maureen Wetzel.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Church of the Incarnation in Atlanta, Georgia. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Trinity Anglican Church in Atlanta.
