Daniel J. Caputo, 93, of Hobe Sound, passed away October 12, 2013 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he graduated from Dickinson High School where he was most valuable player on the football team and held many school records. He worked as a hair dresser and served his community as Committeeman. Danny also worked at Meadow View State Hospital, where he helped and inspired many patients and was a comfort to many of the patients' family members. He retired to West Palm Beach 40 years ago moving to Hobe Sound in 1985. Danny was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Force. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal. He also coached the base's winning boxing team. During his military service he was also received a commendation for saving a woman from drowning. He was the last surviving member of seven brothers and sisters. Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Justine and daughter, Lisa Marlin. He is survived by his grandson, Douglas Marlin; nephews, Robert Messina; James Caputo; Michael Caputo; nieces, Madonna Piacente; Diane Wojcik; Theresa Caputo; Gianna Caputo; and sister-in-law, Elvira Caputo. Danny was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be 11 AM to 12 Noon, Friday, October 18, 2013 at Forest Hills Young and Prill Chapel in Stuart with a service beginning at 12 Noon, Fr. Aidan Hynes, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City with military honors.
