I was Mr. Carr's student at Lansing Christian at the time of his passing. I think of him every year on this day, especially, but he is on my mind often and in my heart always. I cannot believe it has been six years since he went to be with Jesus.

I know it has been so long now, but I want his family to know that I am praying for them today on this hard anniversary and that I will always love Mr. Carr so very much. His impact on my life was profound.

My family and I still have the bracelets that the school made with his name, the date of his passing, and his favorite scripture. We actually picked up extra when I graduated in 2020, because my dad never, ever takes his off. He has had to change it out just a couple of times over the past 6 years as they had faded, but the new one immediately goes on his wrist.

I'm not sure if you visit this site anymore... I'm sure it is so hard. But please know that your son/brother touched my life beyond words. I miss him always and will forever be inspired by the man that he was.

Sending so much love,
Brianna

So very sorry to hear of this. I went to school with Danny at Larkshire. Even then, he was a kind and gentle soul, different than most 10-year-old boys. Based on all the lovely comments, Danny went to on bless those around him for many, many years. Cassie Barber (Howland)

This is truly shocking. Dan touched so many people in in an amazingly positive way. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Dan 24 years ago when he first started teaching in Waverly school district. I hired him as my assistant for the FR Boys basketball team with the support of coaches Craig Fields and Phil Odlum. I left the education field and entered corporate America but the bond in the coaching fratenity is very strong and anytime I would be in town for MSU games and dropped by Waverly it was like we were still on the bench together. Truly will be missed. Dan was the truly genuine person that everyone should meet.

My parents and I were neighbors MANY years ago. We are devastated to hear this sad news. He had come out to California for a visit with my parents a few years ago. It was great to see him then. He even visited my cousin Vangeli in Greece. We send our thoughts and love to friends and family.

Dan visited us several times while we were missionaries in Kenya at PACE. He once asked us about our favorite movies, then during his next visit, he gave DVDs to each member of our family. He was always thinking of others. I considered him a close friend. He inspired me to be more like Christ. We need more men like him!

It was a comfort to know that Dan would follow his student teaching experience with a full-time teaching position at Waverly High. Dedicated and creative in his teaching, he also sincerely cared about the students he taught. His life outside the classroom was filled with travel experiences that lead him not only to Spanish speaking countries but also to serve the needs of many young people throughout the world in a variety of ways. What wonderful tributes to Dan were expressed at his service today!! Would that there be many more like him!! My sincere condolences to his family.

Not only was Carr one of the most genuine, passionate teacher I've ever met, he was an inspiration to all of the students he had taught. Carr, even during tough situations, continually smiled to every student and brought endless help to anyone he saw that needed it. He will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace.

I cant believe youre gone... I just had a nice conversation with you a month ago. You werent just my teacher. You were a father to me. I referred to you as my dad all the time. Ive never felt more loved. You got me through the toughest and darkest times of my life. I keep waiting for text or call back saying that youre expecting my visit. I texted and called you so many times throughout my first year of college just to check in on you. And vice versa. You were my number one supporter! I miss the 5 minuet long Voicemails, or the, call me because Im bad at texting messages. You had a spark in you that always brightened my day and made me laugh. I will miss you. I will miss all of the texts and calls. All of the visits to your school. All of the papers you had me grade. And all of the times we would just sit and talk about life. Ill miss every second of it. I love you and I miss you. Rest in Heaven Sr. Carr. Party hard up there and Ill see you later!

I first met Señor Carr when I was a freshman at Waverly and he was just starting out as a student teacher in our Spanish class. I consider myself lucky to have been among the first in a long line of students who got to know his kindness. I am so sad hes left us. But rest now, Señor. Your Warriors will carry on your legacy.

Dan my man....when I started working with you this year I had no idea who you really were or that you had such an amazing impact on so many people. It is only through your passing that I learned about all the amazing things you have done and people you have touched. This alone totally reflects your true character. You never once bragged about being educator of the year. You never once boasted about any of your accomplishments. Youre focuse was always on serving others and putting the less fortunate first.

You will be greatly missed by everyone that knew you.

Dan Carr was a true servant of God and a treasure within the Waverly community. I will always be grateful that he agrred to pray for my son, his former student, for the duration of his first tour in Iraq. Eternity will reveal the harvest from the precious seeds he planted. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones for their present grief.

Sr. Carr was the person who encouraged me to go to college and learn Spanish. He was my inspiration for all of the traveling I have done, and will continue to do. He was a kind, thoughtful and bright person with a beautiful spirit. He really cared about others and you could tell. He will be missed

Dan went on a mission trip to Honduras with our church back in 2000 I think. He was a mission and servant-minded person. What he has done will be remembered by many whom he spent time with over the years. Life is precious, life is fragile and a gift. May he and his family trust and rest in the peace of Christ.

I've known Mr. Carr my whole high school experience. I stayed seeing him working on something for his students and the people who loved him. I cannot express how grateful I am that he was one of my teachers. He will be greatly missed, but thankfully he will now be at peace.

Dan was a HERO! A true ANGEL here on earth! I cant even put into words how much he meant to so many! He was the most amazing man! My daughter would not be who she is today without him! He did so many things for our family including a soccer camp scholarship for my daughter and a college scholarship for my daughter, sending me to be with my dad as he passed away and every birthday or holiday a call and a text! I cant thank him enough for the many things he has done for us and all the children! When I nominated him for that teacher of the year award I never thought that just 2 short years later I would be writing on a wall for his obituary! This earth was robbed of the biggest most amazing angel it had and this world and our lives will never be the same!

Dan brought so much joy to so many of us. He was an example for us to follow in caring for others, especially students and his teams. He was also a great friend. I am so sorry to have lost touch these last years - I missed out on the blessing of his humor and his gentle spirit. Prayers to his family and all those who mourn his passing. We lost a really good one in Dan Carr. I hope the legacy he has left in us continues to make our world a better place.

Dan was a student of mine at Farmington Harrison High School. He was kind and hard working. I had the pleasure of reconnecting a couple years ago. He set the bar very high for dedication to his craft and by example of an outstanding human being. The lives he made better are surely a beautiful legacy. My sympathy to his family and many friends he left to cherish his memory.

I am so sorry for this great loss. Dan was such a kind and caring man. Ever so thoughtful and humble.

He was our dear neighbor for all eight years that we lived on Maycroft. He was the first to
greet us when we came home from the hospital with our first child. He was eager to hold her and told us how beautiful he thought she was.

I watched him speak so eloquently at the funerals of our late friends Lance Houghton, and Nancy Houghton.

Although I was terrible at keeping in touch, every time I saw him, I was greeted with a warm hug and a shy smile.

Our sincerest sympathies,

Candace, Josh, Whitney, and Zane Ivey
