Daniel Cole Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 15, 2024.
passed away peacefully on Feb 11, 2024, at the age of 60 after fighting a courageous health battle for nearly two years. Dan never lost his positive spirit or sense of humor and always welcomed friends and family with his genuine smile.

Dan lived in Los Angeles, Calif after graduating from Arizona State University. His passion was acting, and he followed his dream whether on stage, television or film. His credits include a reoccurring role on The Office, parts on Arrested Development, Monk, Parks & Rec, Sgt Bilko, Birds of Prey among many others. Perhaps his favorite stage role was playing Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. His expanding inventory of stage props knew no bounds.

Dan loved visiting his family in Wisconsin and always came back at Christmas and the 4th of July. He was chief cook on Christmas Day making the traditional family dinner of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. He was a history and trivia buff who could rival any Jeopardy contestant, unless, of course, the category was sports.

Dan is survived by his brothers Greg (Denise) and Jeff and his nephews Grayson, Alex and Michael. He is preceded in death by his parents Maynard and Rosemary. He is further survived by cousins, other relatives and many wonderful friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Select Specialty Hospital staff in West Allis, WI for their care and guidance the last four months and to Dan's remarkable friends in California and Arizona who visited him regularly and kept his spirits up. They are true friends, and really, more like family.

A private ceremony will be held in Wisconsin to lay Dan to rest next to his parents. Donations in his memory can be made to the Pacific Resident Theater Venice California (pacificresidenttheater.org) or The American Heart Association.

Very sad to hear about Dan's passing. My son was 12 and recognized him from The Office and get his autograph. I'm not sure who was more excited.

I met Dan on my first day of acting school. We were both late arrivals and got to do a scene together, a little riff from Thieves.

I could relate strongly to the sort of push-pull of the characters and Dan was perfect portraying a sort of world weary kindness, tolerating my character's hyperactivity.

At the end of the scene, it's revealed that new life is imminent.

Dan was a kind soul and a gentleman. He loved the movies, Irish music and Arizona. He was generous to a fault and would drop anything to help a friend.

I am sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I attended PAC with Dan and have so many wonderful memories of sharing that journey. My condolences to his family and dear friends.
