Daniel Constantine, 97, of New Holland, formerly of Jeannette, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Garden Spot Village, after a lengthy illness. Born in Jeannette, he was a son of Alfred and Anna (Degregorio) Constantine. He was married 71 years on June 18 to Anna M. (Pagare) Constantine. Daniel and his wife owned and operated Constantine's Clover Farm Store in Jeannette after World War II from 1948-1960. He later worked for the US Department of Agriculture as a federal food inspector until his retirement in the early 1980s. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps, and was a member of New Holland American Legion. He enjoyed sailing, was a great cook and was known for his Italian road beef. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Linda, married to Pete Giovenco, of Pittsburgh, and Susan, married to Jeffrey Wolgemuth, of Mt. Joy; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, Victor Constantine, of Jeannette, Lillian Grbenick, of Milton, and Edward Constantine, of Pittsburgh. Preceding him in death was a brother, Anthony. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557, with Chaplain Chester Yoder officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Garden Spot Village Chapel. Private interment will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, (address above), or to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
