Daniel Mark Crafton, 64, of Charleston, SC (formerly of Indianapolis, IN), passed away on December 31, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with heart failure. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 56 Center Street, Folly Beach, SC. The family will greet friends following the service at Father Kelly Hall, 105 W. Hudson St., Folly Beach.
An additional mass will take place 11:30 AM Thursday, February 10, 2022 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, IN, followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Knights of Columbus, 2100 E 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN.
Dan was born on March 22, 1957 to Elizabeth (Betty) Jane and Henry (Hank) Edward Crafton in Peoria, IL. After graduating from North Central High School in 1975, he went on to work at Reeder and Kline Machine Shop, followed by the Naval Air Warfare Center, C&W Machine, Inc and MVO USA, Inc. Dan was currently employed at Cummins Turbo Technologies in Ladson, SC.
November 16, 2008, Dan met the last love of his life and married Donna (Helms) Crafton on June 16, 2012 in Charleston, SC. Dan fell in love with Charleston, and especially Folly Beach, SC. In 2017 they made the move to Folly Beach, where Dan’s favorite hang-outs were The Lost Dog Café and Bert’s Market. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on Folly Beach.
Dan had two children, who he loved more than anything in the world, James Dean Crafton (Broomfield, CO) and Paige Marie Crafton (Charleston, SC), and four step-children, Jennifer Pickett (Indianapolis, IN), Amy Pickett (Brownsburg, IN), Jonathan Meier (Indianapolis, IN), and Molly Meier (Charleston, SC) whom he also grew to love.
Dan was a personable, kind-hearted man, determined to provide for his family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Anyone who knew Dan knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He was passionate about golf and loved to watch, coach and play as often as he could.
Dan is survived by his mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Crafton; wife, Donna Crafton; siblings Michael (and Martha) Crafton, Cathy Crafton, David (and Nanette) Crafton; children, James (and Zoe) Crafton, Paige Crafton; step-children, Jennifer Pickett, Amy Pickett, Jonathan Meier and Molly Meier; Nieces and Nephew, Carolyn (and Ty) Brooks, Laura (and Ryan) Doughty, and Nick Crafton; and great-nephew, Elijah Brooks. Dan was predeceased by his father, Henry Crafton, and his first wife, Linda (Gardner) Crafton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CMTA Foundation (Link: https:/cmtausa.org) or First Tee of Indiana (Link: https://firstteeindiana.org/).
Arrangements by James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC (843) 766-1365.

My deepest condolences to you. I had the pleasure of working with Dan at Cummins Turbo Technologies. He was a sweet and kind soul. We´d often speak of sports as my son went to college on a athletic scholarship and he´d share stories about his daughter´s experience. May God comfort you during this difficult time.
