RUSSIA - Daniel J. Davis, 87, of Russia, more recently of St. Marys passed away peacefully at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Otterbein Senior Living. He was born November 14, 1935, in Dayton to the late Daniel B. and Myrtle L. (Greer) Davis. He married Eva D. Burnside November 23, 1989, in Sidney; and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Rick (Heather) Davis of Florida, Dan Davis of Celina, Mark (Annette) Hughes of Ft. Loramie; two daughters, Jenny (Kevin) Barnes of Anna, Debra (Sean) Sturgill of Dayton; fourteen grandchildren, Austin Davis, Ariel Davis, Madison Davis, Quinton Barhorst, Ryan (Mary) Hughes, Anseley Spence, Kylie Hughes, Kennedy Hughes, Gina Ludwig, Kelly Brautigam; Kaira Castle, Christopher (Irena) Castle, Sara Cope, Stephanie (Seth) Green; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.
Mr. Davis was a graduate of Bradford High School. He served proudly in the United States Navy where he served from 1952 to 1963. He worked for a short time for Rogers Drums before working as the foreman at Copeland Corporation from 1971 to 1998 when he retired. He was a Boy Scout Leader for seven years, was a member of the AmVets Post 66 in Covington and enjoyed fishing. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds as well as the Seattle Seahawks. He enjoyed painting and working jigsaw puzzles with his puzzle club. Dan was meticulous and a hard worker. He loved his family deeply and will be sorely missed.
A graveside service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua where full military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Funeral arrangements are being provided to the family through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand Lakes Hospice 1122 E. Spring St. St. Marys, OH 45885. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy, to be provided to the family, may be expressed through jamiesonandyannucci.com.

RIP Dan. I owe my Career to you at Copeland. You spoke up for me to have a shot at becoming a Foreman alongside you. You were a valuable asset for me to learn how to be a leader. Thank You isn´t really enough to say what you did for me. RIP Brother.
