Daniel Edward DeHaven

Chesapeake - On Friday September 22, 2017, Daniel Edward DeHaven, 45, suddenly went to meet his Lord while doing what he loved.assisting the Great Bridge Crew Club with early morning practice. He was a realtor with Re/Max Ultra. Danny is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kathy Jones DeHaven. He leaves behind daughters, Apryl Mercado and Crystal Ledder (Marc); his grandchildren, Elijah and Roxanne Mercado (who refer to Danny as "Dad") along with a loving extended family.

Danny is also survived by his mother, Roberta Pfizenmayer (James) of Southern Shores, NC; his sister, Mary Bohling (James); nieces, Hannah and Leah Bohling; and his nephew, Noah Bohling all of Chesapeake, VA. Danny was preceded in death by his father, Ralph DeHaven.

Danny loved his friends and was a devoted family man. He loved music from the time he was a child and never lost his passion for it- playing at various churches and functions throughout his adult life. He was known for his special ability to communicate and most often delighted his family and friends with his special humor. Danny had one of the biggest hearts you'll ever find.

On Saturday October 7, 2017 at 11 am, the family will hold a service to celebrate Danny's life at the Community Church of Chesapeake at 253 Saint Lukes Church Rd. in Chesapeake, VA. Rev. John Slye, Jr. and Rev. Dan Hardesty will officiate. The urn will be privately interred at Rosewood Memorial Park at a future date.

Condolences to the family may be expressed via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

The summer before my senior year of high school, I met Danny. We (the 11 of us) were studying music in a summer program at Shenandoah. He was a great musician. When we weren't studying, some of us hung out. Danny would drive us in his green pickup around town. He was a bit of a prankster, especially when it came to weekend waterfights! He drove all the way to NY for my high school graduation. I look back and have fond memories of him. I was glad to catch up with him on facebook. He was always proud of his kids and LOVED his family. He will be missed!

Danny was not only our Realtor but our friend, genuine, kind, knowledgeable, funny, articulate and loving husband. Danny was passionate about his love for his wife Kathy and children. Gone but never forgotten. Sadly missed by the Streete Family .

I knew Danny since he was six years old. Watched him grow into a loving, caring man. A man who was always ready to lend a hand where needed. Danny and his sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Danny was one of the kindest, gentlest man you could ever have the great fortune to know. There was nothing he would not do for anyone (no matter how well he knew you). He had the kindest heart , sweetest smile and most infectious laugh. We have lost one of God's greatest treasures and our hearts break for his beautiful wife Kathy, daughter Apryl and grandchildren Roxanne and Elijah whom he adored. Every time I hear the piano, I will see Danny's smile from heaven. He will be greatly missed.

Such a loss to his family, friends and the community he loved. He was quick to pitch in and help whenever needed and always brought his positive attitude with him. He is definitely gone too soon but never to be forgotten. Prayers for his family. God Bless~

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I STILL can't believe you are gone. Words can not express how I feel right now. It still feels like a bad dream. I'm so glad we had those conversations. I will do my best to do you proud in helping to get the word out to restore Tradition and Pride to Great Bridge. #WildcatStrong.. Miss you RIP Danny see you again one day.. Love always, Sharon L.
