Daniel Michael Eason

Daniel "Dan" Michael Eason of Coon Rapids passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 27, 2025 at the age of 75. Dan is survived by his wife, Kim (Anderson) Eason of Coon Rapids; his children, Kristine (Gerald) Asplund of Minnetrista, Matt Eason of Coon Rapids, Kari (Steven) Hirman of Independence, Ryan Eason of St. Anthony; and his cherished grandchildren, Connor Asplund, Benjamin Hirman, Elise Hirman, and Jacob Hirman. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill (Cindy) Eason of Columbia Heights, and Jim Eason of Fridley. He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Kathleen (Erhardt) Eason as well as his beloved dog Bailey. Dan was born on December 3, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His childhood was spent playing baseball and fishing with neighborhood friends and his brothers. He also spent many days attending church and serving as altar boy at St. Cyril's Catholic Church in northeast Minneapolis. He graduated from Edison High School excelling in track and setting a record for the 880 yard run. After high school Dan voluntarily enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He won the physical fitness excellence award during boot camp and served one year in Vietnam working artillery. After returning home, Dan started his life-long career as a Minneapolis Firefighter. He retired as a fire motor operator after 40 years on the department in which he received the Poseidon Award. In 1978 he married his beloved wife Kim Anderson and established their forever home in Coon Rapids in 1986. Dan and Kim had four children which they raised with love and intention, building a strong and lasting family bond. Dan will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a true hero and servant to others, a hard worker, and having a hilarious personality that was uniquely his. We will see him daily through all the things he enjoyed - his koi pond, going fishing, horses, a variety of music, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. The family would like to thank the Minneapolis VA Medical Center doctors, nurses, and support staff that so lovingly cared for Dan over the years and in his final days. Dan will be laid to rest in a private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 17, 2025 from 3-6 PM at the Maple Room in the Bunker Hills Activity Center; 550 Bunker Lake Blvd, Andover. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dan's remarkable life.
