Daniel Glacken Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 26, 2025.
Daniel Brian Glacken, a loving Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle and Brother, passed away on March 21, 2025 at the age of 63 from a long battle with Huntington's Disease.

Dan was born on November 14, 1961 and passed away in his sister's home in Carmichael, California on the afternoon of March 21, 2025. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard Glacken and Fern Taylor (Farley). He is survived by his loving sister, Bonnie Miller, brother in-law Scott, and their daughters, Julie and Erika. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Harvest Glacken, and her children: Silas, Cortez, Alex, Isyss, Taytum; Silas' wife Esmeralda Glacken and their two sons. Daniel is also survived by his son Brandon Mockensturm, and his three Children.

His childhood was spent on a sprawling acreage in Wilton, California, always finding adventure and getting into mischief. As a teenager, Dan displayed remarkable work ethic and skill, assisting his father in building their family home from the ground up, handling everything from trenching the foundation to completing the roof.

Dan shared a special bond with his sister, Bonnie. Their close relationship was a constant source of support and love throughout their lives. As children, they played hard, built forts, slept under the stars, walked the country roads barefoot, played doorbell-ditch on the few homes in the neighborhood and rode horses and bikes everywhere.

Embarking on a successful career in the oil and gas industry at the age of 17, he began in Wyoming. Later venturing to the challenging terrain of the North Slope in Alaska. He started his journey as a Floorhand/Roughneck, working his way up through dedication and hard work, he achieved the respected position of Driller, taking full responsibility for the complex and critical drilling operations of the rig.

Daniel had a deep admiration for classic cars and loved working on whatever vehicle he was driving, even if it didn't need any repairs. He cherished his family, often driving across multiple states with his loyal companion in tow, to spend quality time. Spending Holidays with loved ones, his thoughtful gifts were a reflection of his generous heart, a way he showed his Love and care for us all.

Dan's legacy will live on through his family and the memories they shared. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his dedication to his family, and his love for the Lord.

In honoring Daniel's wishes, there will not be a formal memorial service. While we understand that many may wish to gather and pay tribute, we believe that he would have preferred a more personal and quiet remembrance. We encourage you to hold Daniel in your thoughts and memories, and to celebrate his life in your own way, whether through a kind word, a favorite memory, or simply taking a moment to reflect.

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

1 Peter 5:6-7

It only let's you add so many pictures. But here's a few. His love for cars. Hood always up. Always finding something to fix or make better. His love for his dogs. Always let them roam doing their own thing. His love for adrenaline and adventure. Weather sky diving or pulling over to do donuts or off roading. His love for the rig. Traveling wherever it would take him. And of course His love for me and his grandkids. Going wherever I was as he kid he'd follow. From California to Alabama to Colorado to Wyoming. And always made his way to visit my kids. Weather short or long term. I'm going to miss His random pop ups. You were loved so much and missed like crazy already. I love you.

Hi Bonnie, I'm so sorry to about your brother's passing. I do remember how much fun the three of us had growing up in Wilton. We definitely played hard, I always loved staying over night with you guys. Remember when Danny got the slow gin from your parents cabinate and we drank (my first alcoholic drink) that red stuff, then we went and played doorbell ditch. Then we slept in sleeping bags outside, that was a fun night. I'm happy I was a small part of you and your brother Danny's life, I have many found memories of our childhood. It's hard to lose our loved ones, stay strong. Love you Kathi

A true brother and friend to me. I never questioned whether or not he had my back. Daniel, you are greatly missed.
