I know that this is many years later but I had the privilege of being a student of this Great American who has influenced the world by just being himself and passing on the way a man should be and how he treats everyone else around him. He influenced my life and the lives of others that I loved and had to deal with in the business world. One small kindness grows on like wildflowers in a meadow. Until we meet again dear friend and mentor.MAY GOD BLESS !

Jane
I never got to tell you but I saw Danny at the Veterans Home in December 2012. I didn't get to stay long as there was a snow storm and needed to get home before got stranded. I have thought so many times that I should call you and always wondered if Danny knew me and if he related that someone had been to see him. I told him about our old cars we had. His the yellow 1935 Ford that was in his dad's barn that we got running and along with an old 1937 Ford that I acquired spent many hours of trying to keep them togehter. We always had short race encounters and think his was actually faster. Mine finally blew the motor one day when we were racing around the Bethany Fair Race Track. We played football together for several years and held up the right side of the SW Harrison football team line and then on offense too. I remember he and George McIntosh used to spend so much time swimming in their pond that their toe nails turned yellow. I could go on for ever. Danny was a Groomsman in my wedding in 1965. So sorry for your loss. If you ever want to talk, my number is 573-820-3607. Bill Ebersole

Dear Ann and family,

May Cathy and I offer our deepest condolences to all of you. We are happy for your dad, yet sorrowful for you; the veil that separates this life from the next is ephemeral, barely real in our estimation, and we hope that you all hold onto that with the same confidence and comfort that you had when you slid your little hands into his big hands throughout your lives. And know this: men like me who have never served in the active armed forces, and who have never experienced combat, will die with a scratch on our hearts. We all ask ourselves at one time or another, "How would I have measured up when armed, determined, and skilled men came to kill me and my comrades?" We all like to think that we would have measured up like your dad, but we will never know; hence the scratch on our hearts--the scratch that he never had. May he rest in the honored glory that he deserves. Of the depth of his sacrifice, we are woefully ignorant, however unspeakably thankful for.

With love, Steve and Cathy Wise

He was my Jr High FB coach. Great guy. He taught me how to tackle. Still reference him to my kids when talking about football.
