I trained with Dan at Catterick and I know that I speak for all the blokes of 6 Platoon that we think of him as much today as we did in training. We miss you mate

Daniel, we did not know you but you are my husband and my son's name sake and part of the Hume Clan from the Scottish Borders.
You may meet our son Daniel on your journey. Both of you so proud to be in the Military serving your country. We will never foget you.

Hi Daniel, we met a few times at family gatherings. I only remember seeing you running everywhere, either after Sam or away from him or one of the other cousins. I can see from reading that you are as adventurous as your dad and have excelled in everything you have done - you are an inspiration to us all and will be for generations to come. You have reminded us how important family and friends are and that we should stay in touch. We will keep an eye on your family and help them through this difficult journey in whatever way we can. R.I.P. Daniel

As parents of a son in the Army who was also at Furze Platt School our thoughts are with you, Adrian and Wendy and your family and friends. Having a son who has found what he really wanted to do and achieved so much must make you very proud.
We will always remember him.

We lived next door to Daniel and his family. He is the same age as my daughter. Even as a teenager he was a very kind lad and we remember him bringing my daughter's bike back when she fell over one day.

Our thoughts and prayers go to Wendy and his Dad.

Having served in the Blues & Royals at Windsor for 10 years, I know that the loss of a fellow soldier and a friend is a massive blow let alone to his family and friends. Please let us not forget the lads he has left behind as they will be feeling his loss aswell as his family. To his family, my heart felt sorrow goes out to them. To loose a son and or a friend must feel awfull. THESE YOUNG MEN ARE DOING SOMETHING THAT SHOULD MAKE US ALL PROUD. To you Dan, rest in peace for you are truly a REAL hero.

I am shocked and deeply sad to hear to loss of Daniel Hume. I remember him as a young boy who I babysat for on a number of occassions. Having lost my brother last year suddenly i can only appriciate the loss his family must be feeling.

I went to Wootton Bassett yesterday to pay my respects. Although I now live in Wiltshire but grew up and lived in Maidehead for many years. I didn't know that one of the soldiers was from my home town so am all the more glad that I went. By conincidence I happend to be standing with some of Daniel's friends so discovered this fact. I truly wish that such young people did not have to experience the grief of losing one of their friends in such tragic circumstances. Daniel and all the other servicemen deserve our admiration, gratitude and utmost respect for the dangerous and hard job that they do.
