I am so sad to read this now.
In summer 1998 for 2 weeks, I learned from him while being a german student.
He explained so nice and I still say some of his words up to now ("Don't try - Do it!" and: "Now we go in and we will finally solve his/her problem!").

Stuart, I just received news of Dan's passing and wish to express my sincere condolences. Those of us who knew Dan, however briefly, are better people for it. My prayers are with you and your family.
