I first met Dan in New Orleans through mutual friends and liked him immediately. I later moved to Ct and spent alot of time with the Killeen/Wharmby family. He opened his home to me and always made me feel welcome. To David, Greg, Lee, and the rest of the Killeen family I am truely sorry for your loss. He was a true New England gentlemen and he will be missed by many.

I had known Dan since the Branford revaluation in 1980. He was the favorite of the staff and the best company after work at a local establishment. I'll miss his charm and his humor.

I first met Dan in 1980 in Agawam when we were both employed by United Appraisal. He was quite the character, with a great sense of humor. He was very knowledgeable in his field, and was a great help to new employees. My thoughts and condolences to the Killeen family.

I worked with Dan many years at CLT. He was always a gentleman and a wry wit. Also, I never let the short hair fool me. I offer my sympathies to his family on his passing.

I met Dan in 1976 while working in the Waterford Assessors Office, he was with United Appraisal. And again in 1980 when I moved to the Old Lyme Assessors Office we worked together on a Reval. The last 5 years he has worked for our office doing his thing with Personal Property. To say Dan was a character is an understatement. He sure was a lot of fun to work with although his slow Irish pace sometimes drove me nuts! I will miss him greatly.

To the Killeen Family:
My deepest sympathy in the loss of Dan. I met Dan through the Assessor's Office in Old lyme Ct and it was always a delight to see him walk through the door wearing an array of crazy hats ready to take on the "towers" of Old Lyme. He will be sorely missed.

I hadn't seen Dan in a while and the fact I won't see him again saddens me. The world is diminished without him.

I've known Dan since the early 70's when we both worked for the United Appraisal Co. Dan was always thorough and enthusiastic when it came to appraising personal property. His aggressiveness in doing his job was always appreciated by the Assessor but not so much by the property owner.
Dan had been a consultant for the Town of Old Saybrook, Assessor's Office since 1998. In his own way, Dan would convince most property owners that his assessment was the correct one.
I also worked with Dan for the Town of Salem, CT. Dan covered the office in the afternoon and was well liked by all Town Hall employees.
Over the past twelve years we went on many fishing trips on the Sea Sprite out of Old Saybrook. Dan always enjoyed the time that he spent on the boat, usually with family and friends.
those of us left behind will always miss Dan's wit and sense of humor.

Dear Killeen Family,

I have had the pleasure of working with Dan in the Old Saybrook Assessor's office since I started back in 2007. He was always fun to work with. He is missed very much, especially now that it's personal property season! I still keep thinking he's going to walk through the door at any moment. All of us in the office miss Dan tremendously. He wasn't just a co-worker he was a great friend.

Dan was one of those people when you met him you felt cheated because there wasn't enough time in the moment to truly enjoy Him.I met Dan through my daughter and his daughter and had only those special moments with him where he made me feel truly welcome to be in his presents, his conversation was always genuine and he always may you feel like you were a long time friend of his. There are very few people on this earth who can make a stranger feel like a close friend, and Dan was one of those few. Heavenly Father Thank you for Dan and please Bless his family, for Dan will truly be missed.

Dan was quite a character. He was a very close friend to my entire family. His witty personality and entertaining stories will be greatly missed on our annual fishing trips and during the holidays this year and every year in the future. My condolences to his family for their loss.
