On Monday, October 25, 2021, Daniel Keith Knowles died at his residence in Roanoke, TX, at the age of 45.

Danny was born on July 24, 1976, in Lake Charles, LA. A graduate of Barbe High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion from McNeese State University in 1999. He started his career at Stine Lumber, where he worked for over 10 years learning the construction industry, then moved to sales and management at LA Fitness. In more recent years, he worked in sales and project management in the roofing industry.

Danny was a kind and gentle soul with an infectious smile and a big heart. He followed LSU athletics, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Houston Astros, and enjoyed water sports and riding his Harley with friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially hunting with his father and gathering with his mother and sisters, nieces, and nephews. His dogs Bru, Lucky, and Ziggy were like children to him. He spoiled them, caring more for them sometimes than for himself. If Danny went out, he always came home with treats for his dogs. He had a whole medicine cabinet filled with supplies to care for them. His sweet, caring nature left a mark on everyone around him.

Danny is survived by his mother and step-father, Jeanine and John Newman of Lake Charles, LA; his father and step-mother, Reggie and Susie Knowles of Sulphur, LA; his sisters Julie Manuel (and her husband Keith) and Carrie Peavy (and her husband Todd) of Lake Charles, LA, and Marietta Laughlin (and her husband Josh) of Sulphur, LA; his nieces Sydney and Mia Manuel, Brenna and Amelia Peavy, and Madison Caillouet; his nephew and godson, Lucas Manuel; his nephews Nicholas Manuel, Braydon and Oliver Peavy, Mason and Kaden Caillouet, and Zane Laughlin; one great niece, Ainsley Peavy; and  numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will welcome friends on Monday, November 1, 2021, at University Baptist Church in Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will begin at 12:00 with Words of Remembrance at 1:15. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Monsignor Daniel Torres, will begin at 2:00. The burial will follow at Highland Memory Garden in Lake Charles, LA, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

What a great cousin with so many childhood memories. I think our parents planned their children yearly because it seems we always had a new member every year. Danny and I were just a year apart. So many weekend bbqs, baseball games, hydrosliding and skiing, trips to Florida, and snow skiing as a big family. Somehow we lost our way throughout this thing called life and it’s heartbreaking to not be present with my family especially during this saddening time. I’m praying for everyone and I’m praying for God’s healing to our family. Love you all. Danny you will always be in my heart. Go catch some fish with Uncle Ronnie and keep watching over us.

I only knew Danny for a short period of time. We had laughs and fun. He taught me a few things about the roofing sales business. I can’t believe he is gone. Danny was a great guy. RIP
