Dan is my second cousin when my family visited West Virginia. We hung out a lot and we became very good friends.. he was a great guy and I missed him over the years. Sorry for that.. we went rollerskating together and we had a good time

Dan and I were college roommates for 3 out of four years. We graduated about this time, 57 years ago. We both went into the military for 4 years after receiving our draft notices. I attended both of his weddings. So sorry he died so young as I know he still had much to give to his friends and family.

On this anniversary, I look at the picture of Dan, and feel the manifestation of the beautiful life he shared with me, as if he were present. I´ll never forget when he hired me to be the Nanny of his beautiful children; they were a blessing in my life and memories! For several years one of my duties was to cook weekly dinner for the family: I was a young man in graduate school with no culinary background. Dan NEVER ONCE complained about my cooking!!! He was gracious and thanked me after every meal. Thank you, Dan, for all you did being a beaker of light as I transitioned through graduate school and into professional setting!

A Wonder Man who raised beautiful children. I am shocked and saddened. I was a Nanny to Dan's children and have always cherished the memories.

Your family will be held in the hearts and thoughts of many as you mourn the loss of your Dad. Our roots go back to the sophomore year at SJHS in Charleston, WV and second year Latin class in the room of Lillian Bush. A serious student, he also enjoyed getting under her skin on occasion. We swam at EPI in the summers. We became closer when Rose, Abe and Dan hosted AFS student Mats Lindquist our senior years. After high school we all went our separate ways with only occasional contact. However, as I get ready to attend the 55th reunion of the SJHS Class of 64 this weekend, I will recall fondly the memories of the reunions that he attended with Lynn Silvers before Kyra was born when he took her around his childhood haunts and then in 2014 when he celebrated not only his past but all the accomplishments he achieved in the years after high school. Most importantly know that he considered you, his children, his greatest legacy.

I am saddened to learn of Dan's passing. My condolences to his family and all who loved him. We were fellow classmates at NECO. His passion for optometry and his contributions speak so highly of everything he exemplified. He was a true mentor to many.
